That "airstrike" scenario that I described in an earlier post was pure fancy (possibly attributable to posting after a six of Golden's with friends) and was intended as such.
You're right Jeff, Entercom doesn't destroy properties capriciously, although they just blew up their heritage Kansas City Classic Rocker to go AAA, which was a surprise to a lot of folks, especially as Entercom gave Cumulus, a real cheeze-heel outfit, sole possession of the Classic Rock market.
From what I've heard trickling down the Buffalo media grapevine, Wease already has an agent who also reps some very big news-talk people and morning show people including a few guys who are synicated.
Out here in the street, where people scramble to eat and pay their mortgages, run small businesses and make their payrolls, nobody, and I mean NO-BODY is going to get in line to support a guy, no matter how plebian, who makes thick six figures for talking on the radio. The worker bees also don't give a rat's assets if there's no window in the studio... especially when they're working in a cubicle farm, under a truck or at Sprawl-Mart.
What we're seeing in broadcasting is the re-evaluation or de-evaluation of air talent. Salaries being cut, jocks being fired and more voice tracking. It's short-sighted in many cases, but it is what it is. Still doesn't make it right. Wease, bless his heart, needs a dose of reality.
