"Dr. Bruce" Nelson Stratton to retire at year's end

I worked for Dr Bruce at KTFX doing weekend overnights back in 2003. Didnt ever get the opportunity to meet him but I was made aware that I stay on my "P"s and "Q"s during the overnight because he could be listening at any point, as he kept a radio in his bathroom. He did call me one night to tell me he was listening and wanted to let me know I was "sounding really good, keep it up". Made my night. :)

I was Bruce Nelson's newsman at KENR in the early 1970's. My name then was John Parker. One of the surveys came out that gave us the #1 afternoon drive rating. We were #2 altogether in the market. Carl B. McIntyre on KILT (with Hudson & Harrigan I assume) was #1 in morning drive and beat us out overall. I had always wondered what happened to Bruce.

That would be Robert B. McEntire. There was a "Carl" in the KILT news department; his name was Carl Williams.

Chuck, you are so right. It was a long time ago. That was before the Trinity River caught fire and FM radio.

Saw the good Doc @ the induction ceremony a few weeks ago, he looked great and he looked happy, ain't nothing wrong with that combo. I have some great memories of Bruce @ KNUZ.
