Dr. James Winer, Alternative Medcine Radio Host in Pittsburgh

Dr. James Winer, a Pittsburgh chiropractor who ran a holistic wellness clinic and bought up to 30 hours per week in local radio time to broadcast his own talk show on health topics, has died.

His programs ran on as many as five stations, including KDKA. He apparently died in Florida under mysterious circumstances (disappeared shortly after arriving for Thanksgiving and turned-up as a John Doe in a hospital without ID several days later).

Dr. Winer was an outspoken critic of the medical establishment and pharmaceutical industry. He was particularly opposed to vaccines. Due to the strange circumstances of his death conspiracy theories are already swirling around the internet.

The loss of so many hours of brokered time purchase is likely going to have a negative effect
on the finances of several local AM stations.

Dr. Winer's family has been out there asking that people please stop already with the conspiracy theories.

They say that there was a family history of cardiac disease, and that his father had had a serious heart attack in his mid-40's. They say the doctor went to Florida for a Thanksgiving holiday and had a massive coronary while he was exercising. He was found unconscious in his exercise gear which did not contain his wallet. (this explains why he ended up at the hospital as a John Doe).

The wallet was apparently in his rental car, which the rental agency did not retrieve for several days. Once they did they figured out who the John Doe was and contacted the doctor's family. They said they went to Florida, found him on life support at this hospital, and gave permission to pull the plug. He had never regained consciousness after suffering the heart attack.
