"Dr. Laura new R&R editor????"

That's about the only explanation I could come up with as to why they would post this fluff story with the headline and spin they did:

http://www.radioandrecords.com/Newsroom/2005_07_28/drlaura.asp

Horrible journalism. That's essentially on par with The Sporting News getting a press release from the Philadelphia Eagles and putting "Eagles: A Strong Second Best!" with a Donovan McNabb photo on the front page... then mentioning further on down in the article that -- um, oh yeah, the New England Patriots actually won the Super Bowl.

And to think, R&R's style of journalism got praise in the Styles thread.

To me, this looks more like "PR&R" from the relentless Dr. Laura spin doctors!
Edited by StreetTalkinGuy on 07/29/05 05:51 AM.

Nope, and your sujbect title is misleading.

Once again, I feel I've been hooked in by a misleading Sujbect title
I thought you had some piece of news or something.
It's one of my pet peeves. I hate when posters (like you) do this, just to get us to read your opinion about what you think about something.

OK, so Premiere doesn't even syndicate Dr. Laura anymore. Sorry 'bout that... I changed it.

However, this is a public forum -- a place for all kinds of exchanges, including opinions. You have to expect you'll get opinions when you visit the site. If all you want is news, then go to R&R or Inside Radio or All Access, etc.

As for your pet peeves... well, everyone has 'em, and in an open forum, we can't be worried about individuals' pet peeves, or else nobody would have anything interesting to say!

This is a legitimate issue, though, for somebody like you who seems to care so much about news. Should the industry's news sites simply be regurgitating press releases when they're so seriously skewed? The piece I criticized was nothing more than Dr. Laura-centric publicity fluff designed to get her name out there.

If I was at R&R and was pitched the "story," I'd be laughing my butt off and saying, "Hey, buy an ad!"

That's what headlines do: hook people to read.

And his headline accurately paraphrased his rhetorical question.

I hate it when posters [like this] waste electrons [like this] in going off on stupid tangents [like this] that have nothing to do with the subject [like that].

If you have something to say about Radio and Records, this thread is the place to do it.

And people b*tch at me when I get sarcastic toward posters.
