Dr.Laura or Dr.Joy(???????)

...May I suggest two others?...Roy Masters and now his son David Masters as a substitute host...

My vote would be for Roy Masters among these four...

To answer you question with the original information...

IMHO, Dr. Joy is a much more down-to-earth, common sense, logical thinker.

Not to speak ill of "Dr." Laura, but I feel her "I'm right, you're wrong, and that's that" image is a big turn off.

People that call "Dr." Laura sound like they are made of less sterner stuff than participants of the Joy Brown program.

I'm pretty sure that this very same question was asked several months ago (almost word for word).

My answer? Whatever. Who cares.

At this point, Dr. Joy may have more affiliates than Dr. Laura, as the Premiere Gravy Train left the station for Mrs. Schlessinger a while back.

Here in Ohio, Dr. Laura's largest market is now *CANTON*. She's dropped off the dial in all of Ohio's other major markets (all Clear Channel ex-affiliates) which used to carry her in middays.

I don't know who Dr. Joy has around here, but she can be heard loud and clear through much of Northern Ohio via 50,000 watt powerhouse CKLW/800 Windsor ON.

I see that KRC/Cincy dumped Dr. Laura for... Dave Ramsey?! Darryl Parks should be demoted for this idiocy... replacing an in-house product, who is still #4 nationally, with a virtual unknown except in Tennessee, seems ludicrous.

TOP 10 AFFIL COUNTS
Dr. Laura: 6 (WWDJ, KFI, KSFO, KLIF, WTTT, WJR)
Joy Browne: 2 (WOR, CKLW)
Dave Ramsey: 2/3 (WABC-weekend, KSKY, KNTH)

After Dr. Laura got moed to 10-12midnight, 'KRC gave her absolutely no promotion throughout the rest of the schedule. I don't know how Dave Ramsey (Christian Financial counselor) will do. I've really only heard his short-form program. <P ID="signature">______________

Didn't Dr. Laura leave Premiere?

She's no longer in-house, because she's syndicating herself now...at least that's what I thought.

The new "Laura" in middays is Laura Ingraham, who's riding the Salem train.

Dr. Laura's show is no longer owned by Premiere...it's owned by her own company, "Take on the Day Productions". This started at the first of the year.

However, her new production company contracts with Premiere to do the actual selling of the show, much like liberal talkers Ed Schultz (P1) and Stephanie Miller (Democracy Radio) are sold by Jones.

Dr. Laura continues to fall off major Premiere-owned talk stations. Perhaps now that Premiere's been reduced to a third-party sales force for the show, local CC programmers don't feel tied to the show anymore.
