Dr. Laura to satellite

Radio-Info reports that in January, Schlessinger will take her lifestyle talk-fest to satellite radio after her talking-without-thinking-beforehand mishap. What is the closest station to the Cleveland market that carries her show, and what will they do when she's gone?

On a side question, I notice that recent pictures of Laura show her sporting a youthful hair-do. Was she a "hottie" 25-30-40 years ago?

WCER/900 Canton's website still lists her:

http://www.wcer.us/home/programs#drlaura

Dr. Laura's affiliate list says WCER carries her 4-6 PM, which is confirmed by this WCER schedule:

http://www.wcer.us/progsched.htm

I don't know if the information is still valid, as I haven't tried to listen to 900 in a LONG time.

Most of Northern Ohio has a MUCH easier time catching her show on blowtorch Citadel talker WJR/760 Detroit:

She's currently listed 11 PM-1 AM weekdays:

With her going to satellite radio, I wonder how long some of these stations will hang onto her...will she last on most stations through 12/31?

As for the other question, well, there are some old pictures taken by Bill Ballance that may answer that question for you one way or the other...

I believe that you have to pay to see the photos. It's not important enough to do that.

Just go to Google, and punch in "laura schlessinger n*** photos" and on the first page of results, choose the page from pencilnecks or francesfarmersrevenge dot com. Not for the kiddies.

"Now Go Do The Right Thing"!

Oh, and bring along your gardening implements.

Just a caution, though...though the pictures are not hard to find online for free (at least they weren't back when this hit the news), any such pictures are possibly laden with trojan horses, nasty pop up windows and the like.

Just to answer the burning question about Dr Laura. She is airing on W C E R 900 AM in Canton from 4-6pm Monday thru Friday. Once Dr Laura's contact ends December 31st I believe they'll replace her with Katherine Albrecht

Who?

The schedule has Katherine on in the weekends at various slots... almost as recognizable as Derry Brownfield, Texe Marrs or Robbie Noel. Hey, at least I know who Alex Jones is by virtue of his name, but this roster is even more obscure that the Salem Radio Network lineup! :p

IMO, WCER should clear Dobbs' show from 4 to 6, then give his current time slot to the other two hours of Free Talk Live... or to Savage. Or plug in Dave Ramsey for the 4pm hour at least. Neither looks like a remote possiblity IMO... ::)

DENNIS PRAGER (my favorite!) and MICHAEL MEDVED are pretty well known names, I think. In the night slot at 9pm they have Mark Levin who is fairly well known, although I wish he wasn't. He's like a weak imitation of Michael Savage, who calls him "Groucho Marx on laughing gas". Savage's best name-calling comes with his one word names ... The Golfer (Rush), The Wallbanger (my favorite-for Hannity)... etc ... I wanted to email Savage and tell him he should re-name Levin "The Munchkin", because that's what he sounds like to me. Unfortunately, there's no email address on his website.

A quick Google search shows that Dr. Albrecht is actually the 4-6 PM (ET) weekday host on GCN (Genesis), the same network that hosts much of the WCER lineup (including conspiracytalk star Alex Jones).

If they tune their GCN receiver to the network's second satellite channel 4-6 PM, they'll get her. :D

If I were them, I'd probably put Savage on, or move him and Ramsey around or have some combination that moves Savage up to 6 PM live. But I realize their agenda is a bit different than the average "talk radio station", so that may not work for them.

Will WCER remain at high power for the Albrecht show then suddendly power down, much like they do for Walsh Basketball, and high School sports? Amazing how when the closing billboard runs, you suddendly lose the signal.

I don't know what kind of show Dr. Albrecht has (obviously, I had to go looking her up after this thread!), but she might be a compatible show around an Alex Jones repeat.

I'm not sure I'd listen to any of 'em...even Savage...but it might work for them. I'm not the average WCER listener, even if I had a better signal out of them.

To John Baylor, WCER has to power down at sunset due to FCC regulations. Since Walsh and most high school games start after sunset that would be the reason. WCER broadcasts all games it airs live over their internet feed at www.wcer.us. If it was up to me I'd love to up the wattage but the FCC kind of frowns on that.

Yes warden the FCC frowns on that. It's exactly the reason an FCC field inspector visited the WCER compound a few years ago. tWICE! The same reason they were popped for a fine to only claim financial hardship.

I wasn't complaining that you power down, Im pointing out that on select nights, you DONT until after the game, and the FCC frowns on that.

To John Baylor, I didn't take your last post as a complaint. I've been with WCER for close to 3 years now (the FCC was here before I was hired but I know the whole story) and I keep a close eye on it. I'd rather get a root canal than get a visit from from the FCC lol. I misunderstood your previous post. My point is since I've been here I've been following the rules on the proper times of day wattage or night wattage.

Let me help with your "close eye", WCER remained at daytime power well into the evening on the following dates:

Thursday December 2nd - Full power until after the Walsh Men's Basketball game.
Tuesday November 30th - Full power until after the Walsh Men's Basketball game.

Check them logs.
