She seems to be bombing everywhere these days. Then why is she still doing so well in peak time on KFI in LA? Any other "big" stations successfull with her?

Just a theory, but relationship talk (if you want to call it that) has always done pretty well in L.A. Joy Browne was a pioneer in that field. There's plenty of naval-gazing in SoCal, so maybe Dr. Laura is destined to be a really strong local talent there with a few shows here and there throughout the rest of the U.S.

There's plenty of naval-gazing in SoCal, so maybe Dr. Laura is destined to be a really strong local talent there with a few shows here and there throughout the rest of the U.S.
Could there be a market for "Relationship Radio"
It seems the reason she's bombing is the stations she's on are conservative talk stations that air Rush, Hannity, etc so her show chases away the base of listeners that station desires. What if a station geared itself to reach the female talker via "relationship talk" radio. Dr. Laura, Joy Brown,(there may be other female oriented radio talk hosts), and of course Deliah to round out the broadcast day. Would such a format work in most cities?

I don't have any evidence of it working well.. but it seems like too good an idea to give up on. It will take the right hosts but also some time. The golden age of talk radio should be ahead of it beacause of the challenges facing music-based radio. But it has to develop more non-political talk hosts. <P ID="signature">______________

"Relationship Radio" in 70's?
Didn't her (Dr L) boyfriend Bill Vance?? (the guy that release the nude photos)have some pyscho-babble relationship radio show? and wasn't there a Don Chamberland in the Bay Area that had some radio show where he'd ask women "what was the most unusual place" (room in the house, car etc) they "did it"..etc.

So, bottom line, do you think she's a has-been (other than KFI?) Is she doing well in ratings for ANY other radio station?

So, bottom line, do you think she's a has-been (other than KFI?) Is she doing well in ratings for ANY other radio station?

Basically, to answer your question directly, I'd say if the answer isn't yes, it will be, soon...at least when it comes to "regular" news/talk stations. Her affiliates - where she still has them - are looking a lot more like Salem's religious/talk WMCA/NYC than her flagship KFI in Los Angeles. As I noted below, in my home area she dropped through from a big mainstream talk station, to a more regional mainstream talk station, to a tiny religious/talk station in the least populated decent-sized city in the area.
She's sliding pretty fast off of the mainstream talk radio charts, and where she gets new affiliates at all, they're more and more religious or Salem owned talk stations.

Basically, to answer your question directly, I'd say if the answer isn't yes, it will be, soon...at least when it comes to "regular" news/talk stations.
