Orange County Register:
Nationally, in her target age 25-54 demographic, she's enjoyed a 20 percent growth in ratings nationally (spring 2005 to spring 2006), and, according to (Corinne) Baldassano (senior vice president for programming and marketing at Dr. Laura's company, Take On The Day LLC.), "a 21 percent growth in the Top 50 markets, while talk radio overall dropped 2.3 percent in the same time period."

The article adds that KFI PD Robin Bertolucci says "Dr." Laura's ratings are up 33 percent year-to-year among women age 25-54, and up 21 percent among adults 25-54 in the LA market.

Sounds like reports of her death have been exaggerated.
Maybe, as Greenstone Media and HC have been saying, people - especially women - are getting tired of all the shouting and arguing in political talk radio.
Maybe Dr. Laura does better in the West because she is heard in the noon to 3 pm slot (local time), the same time Dr. Joy Browne airs in the East. Maybe middays is better for fem advice talk. Laura's former stations in the East often carried her in PM drive or delayed her until the next morning (Laura never did seem to realize that much of her audience would be hearing her the next and this made the delay factor obvious to listeners). Maybe her numbers are looking good because she is concentrated now in her better markets.
