Dr. Leach, Ga. Tech audio engineering professor passes away

Dr. Marshall Leach, professor of audio engineering at Tech, passed away on Saturday. He was a long-time technical advisor to WREK radio. For years, WREK operated with a Leach-designed compressor and limiter in its soundchain. (Which are still around as a backup.) I worked with Dr. Leach back when I was chief engineer at WREK.

Some of you may remember his website on Atlanta Area Radio which gave the histories of area radio stations. It was one of the first websites regarding radio in Atlanta: http://users.ece.gatech.edu/mleach/radio/

I'm really sorry to hear that. I sent him a lot of material that he used on his website (a little of which is out of date or been proven to be flat-out wrong).

I wonder if we could roll this into some kind of FAQ or "sticky post" on this site or another site.

Condolences to the family.

Dr. Leach's Atlanta radio site was one of the first things I read when I first got online in the 90's and started searching for radio information. I emailed Dr. Leach with comments, and he responded. Over the years since then, I've referred to the information repeatedly.

Condolences to his family.
