Dr. Phil?

I was suprised to hear that Dr.Phil was let go from WCHR, The Hawk (Manahawkin) recently. And yet more pleasantly suprised to not see the usual clutterous nobs commenting on his letting go and the reasons and wherefores. This board is to be commended for not rehashing and bashing a sir who certainly organized well and worked very, very hard. I'll miss him in the afternoon. Fly on, brother.

Well it raises a few possible reasons as to why:
1) No one noticed...
2) No one cared...
3) Too side-tracked by Judi's departure at 1015... (15,200+ views and counting)

While I empathize with the fact that he lost his job and joins the masses now with a new title, "unemployed", I can't help but wonder what prompted this decision. The song selection is stale, repetitive and not to mention the overall station imaging which doesn't sound like it's changed in atleast the last 2 years. To better illustrate my point, a Class B1 at the shore pulling in mediocre numbers in the Mon/Oc book as in the low-mid 2's isn't all that impressive. Now we do know that in today's radio-world that actual PD's have very LITTLE say in terms of programming since the "consultants" have ALL the answers, so I guess he can't directly be blamed for the results and perhaps that frustration led to him leaving. To his credit he did sound decent on the air and was an integral part of their Radiothon that they aired helping an Ocean county charity, which is commendable. The bottom-line here is that its MILLENNIUM O/O and they are just begging and yearning to fetch a buyer for the shore properties and have been for some time. This latest trimming was probably a measure of last resort as ad-revenues have been directly affected by the suffering economy. Seems to me like the Millennium folks are following the Clear Channel Business Model and sucking every last penny out of the budget and expecting "greatness and perfection" from their staff in the process... Sorry but you pay for what you get. There has been a phenomenal turnover in The Hawks airstaff which begs the question...If it was a GREAT place to work, why would people leave?? (Those that weren't shown the door that is)

If he left on his own terms which doesn't seem to be the case by the original poster, may he land somewhere better!
