Drake - Best I Ever Had

Is this song a huge steaming pile of poo or is it just me? I'm sorry but from top to bottom it sounds like a trainwreck. Have you looked at the unedited lyrics...? Wow. This is the first song in a long while that's driven me up the wall and over the other side. Obviously ATM it's doing well...but why? Maybe I don't think it fits the overall CHR blend at the moment?

Why am I not on board?

The song is not all that good, but it fits in with the type of many of the ridiculous songs that pass today. This is real music to "the kids".

The beat pattern they used fits precisely in with "what everybody else" is doing, the lyrics were dumbed down a lot, and the song is perfectly made for today's standard. It's not really all that bad in comparison to other things, but at the same time it's not all that good either.

Yah the lyrics are wack! But the beat has an infectious old school mid 90's feel to it. I like it better than that knuckle head anthem every girl by young money. Which is being driven into the ground right now.

At first I liked this song because it samples "Fallin' In Love" by Hamilton Joe Frank & Reynolds", a song that brings back fond memories for me. But after hearing it a few thousand times I have grown to dislike it. It sounds like such a mediocre piece of music to me. I'm surprised it's such a huge hit.

This song is taking over the planet! Geez! The only way I could get away from it now is by space travel!

Not to mention, "every girl" is looking to be very big, too! I see both of them as halfway decent songs. I could see what people like about it, but at the same time, I can also see the things about it that make it undesirable. Both songs are hit or miss to me. Sometimes I can tolerate and enjoy the songs, then other times I'm like "damn! again? I don't want to hear this!" If anything, Maino "all the above" should have been the chart topper! THAT is actually an all around good song!

Anyway, everyone can have an opinion, but fact remains that Drake is taking full advantage of his time to shine right now, so much respect, good job, and best wishes to Drake for doing what he does and being successful with it. Everybody has a dream, and Drake is surely taking the time now to successfully live it out, so that should be honored. After all, this is his career and how he makes a living, and whatever works, works, so do that.

Maino " All the Above" is 10x better than Drake but won't prob get any CHR/40 adds. It also would fit the format better than Drake's song.

I'm a middle aged white male so I'm way out of the CHR demo but I can recognize a good song when one comes along. In my opinion this song is awful. The music track is from "Fallin in Love", the lyrics are dumb, and Drake doesn't even rap that well. He's no Eminem, Kanye or Snoop. So what is it that people find appealing about this song?

I think it's the way the song was put together - mainly the arrangement of the words and instrumentation along with the rhythm in the build up to the chorus, and maybe even parts of the chorus. I find the song to be pretty much tolerable. I enjoy it more than.... well, some other stuff that's out there... and I'll just leave it at that because I don't want to be a jerk about it.

not much offends me lyric wise, being a fan of rap, Dance, and rock and pop ive heard it all,, but the lyrics that say I can make your p....y whiiiiiiiistle... like the andy grifith theme song is not only offensive, its downright lame..... You can not make a p........ whistle,,, or fart... no matter how much these rappers say you can. Its not the F bomb in the unedited that offends me,, but the part about making a p...... whiiiiiistle should have been completely edited out of radio,, and really should not even been recorded on the album..

Thank god for Akon, Will I Am, Pitbull, Sean Kingston, Lmfao and Eminem for making some some quality crossover hip hop these days.
If you wanna see something real bad, look up Kricket boy- P........ Whistle on youtube and watch all the nasty hoochies dancing in hoochy clothes sticking their but in the air and bending over.......... This song is really a peace of trash and i hope it doesnt get any mixshow play.

Funny that this post is still going on because while shopping at the 99 cents only store I was thinking about trhis song, and how easily it could have just been made a completely decent song to begin with! When you actually listen to the lyrics, you can see that this song could have VERY EASILY BEEN a good, quality and lyrical song with meaning, BUT, they just had to throw in a few things to destroy it.... as usual!

I really don't mind the song at all.. when it is on the radio. I wouldn't really mind it in an ipod either, but I'm not sure that I'd put it in my ipod by myself. The song is alright, but I wouldn't miss it if it suddenly disappeared. The other song "Every Girl" just has good instrumentation production (nothing to compare to the old school Timbaland sound, but good enough), and I like the concept behind what they were trying to do with the vocal and wording style & arrangement, but I agree with, or could understand, the people who would say the song as a whole is garbage, and the song doesn't sound as if it came out precisely as they all wanted it to sound in the end, although they still went ahead with it as is.

I think "You're a jerk" has better... nevermind. They are all equal to me. Too bad Maino didn't have the same, or even more success than all of those other songs I've mentioned. They were all creatively done, but Maino is the only one that exceeds the most in quality and meaningful lyrics.

...But like I said, if it works and is bringing them their finances... and they are having fun too, more power to them.

If I had an i-Pod "Best I Ever Had" would be the last song I would put on it. I would put no overplayed radio songs on a i-pod.

While I'm burned on "Best I ever had" I'll take it any day over "You're A Jerk"..that has to be one of the most annoying songs I have ever heard in my life.
