DRC-FM surveying listeners on morning show

Interesting survey available at drcfm.com these days. They're asking listeners what kind of and how much talk and music they'd like to hear on the morning show. That's right, they want to know if Jerry and Mike should shut up, talk more, talk less about family, talk more about politics, play more '50s music, play fewer slow songs, etc. Hey, it's cheaper than hiring a consultant!

I think Jerry should shut up. It seems to me that his caliper of talent is just slightly outdated. I replied to the survey and the question of re-balancing the morning co-hosts was not offered. Mike is a tremendous talent and deserves more mic time; that is, of course, if he wants it. After the way he's been shuffled around over the past few years, Buckley Broadcasting should award him the solid shift he so justly deserves. . .

While I'm venting, the updating of the web site has deteriorated, lately. I don't think they have promoted their weekend specials like they did in the past. That is to say "not at all", lately. e.g.: There was recently a big cruise in Manchester where Big D was doing a live remote. Where was the promotion? Obviously, there was plenty of hype on the air, but where was it on the web site? Somwhere in the fine print of the "Cruisin' News" section. Also, the feature on this particular weekend was "Cruisin' Tunes" which, of course was the perfect tie-in to the remote. I think a station's web site should reflect current features or special events. Am I wrong? It seems to me that most of the DRC-FM front page is devoted to "All Things That Are Jerry". As for the survey, I'm surprised that it isn't branded a "Jer-vey".

You're right. I'd like to see the themes of each weekend (British Invasion, soul, Elvis, one-hit wonders, summer songs, songs by dead performers, etc.) and the nightly top 9 at 9 up on the web site too.

they should RE-CAST That entire morning show, Jerry belongs on DRC-AM or out the door, and Mike(yawn)... a few months ago DRC-FM placed an ad for a Morning Show, they hired nobody and shuffled Mike to the morning show, they probably got a few good T&R's too, but ignored them, and we got stuck with Jerry & Mike.. in the words of Hawkeye Pierce on MASH... "WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE"!!!!

I like Mike and personally I think he deserves better than being Jerry's second banana. I know they won't, but I wish they'd get rid of Larry Wells (he thinks he's funny when he's not) and Jerry and bring Doug Taylor back. I'd move PD Grahame Winters back to overnights (a VTd overnight jock is better than automated music, imo). I'd move Floyd to Afternoons, Doug Taylor to Evenings, and have Mike Stevens do Middays. Not sure who I'd get for mornings.

you would probably like somebody from that T&R pile they ignored. as for nights WHY don't they go with syndication, Mike Harvey, Tom Kent, or Marty Thompson? IT'S BARTER!

Their sister station, WSEN-FM in Syracuse, uses syndicated Tom Kent nights and VT'ed Floyd Wright afternoons. Not sure why they're keeping DRC-FM local at night with Winters.

the reason she is on VT nights is because they moved mike to mornings(after posting an opening FOR mornings) appearantly they think Jerry can't cut it and thought mike would help. they need just ONE person who can carry the show -now they have TWO people who can't carry the show. she's probably on nights to justify her position and salary. that is usually how that works.

So that's why the previous PD, Dave Nagel, had to VT midnight to 5? Program director isn't enough of a job to justify a program director's salary? Huh?

How the heck did the quoting on this thread get so screwed up?

Tired of WDRC? Start listening to Kool 101!
Is Kool 101 the same format?

As far as I can tell, Kool 101 is more of a traditional "oldies" format. DRC, like CBS-FM, is more of a greatest hits format....playing much more into the 1980's.
