DRC-FM's Return to Jingles

Listening to DRC-FM tonight on the way to the gym and noticed they're airing new jingles in place of the boring old liners. Same package WCBS-FM is using once again - "Home of the Hits" by JAM Creative. They sound pretty good, but the top of the hour is realllllly forced with the HD radio plug. For the first time in years they're doing DJ jingles too. I heard Mike Stevens' tonight around 9:30.

It's good to see JAM making somewhat of a comeback lately. WODS in Boston started using a lot of the "Home of the Hits" jingles after Christmas. They mix them up with classic stuff from WABC as well.

I still liked the 'Do it Again' Package by JAM vs the current 'Home of the Hits package. Atleast they are mixing in the old WABC jingles in there. Still glad to have the jingles back either way

I finally got to hear the jingles on air. It sounds so strange to hear them after not having them for a long time. I still have yet to catch the top of the hour jingle (perhaps someone can submit an aircheck to Scott Fybush's sister site, TopHour.com).

I have my own personal bias against the "Do It Again" jingle package. The only place it will sound "at home" is on CBS-FM. I remember that it sort of annoyed me to hear the DRC-FM versions and feel kind of cheated. Sure, they're available for any market but I just happened to associate them with CBS-FM.

Do It Again's Legal ID is a great jingle that I've heard on CBS-FM, DRC-FM and ORC-FM. Therefore I don't feel cheated. I remember WABC jingles in the 60s being played on WAVZ, WPOP and WDRC.

Good point. Since I never listened to WAVZ and WPOP back in the day, I've always associated the "PAMS Sound" with WABC. I know WNBC had PAMS jingles, too, but their packages were very different than ABC's. It's our own personal listening habits and history on how we perceive the sound of the jingles. When I first started my webstrem I got resings of PAMS' "Philadelphia Story" as heard on WFIL. A few years later I ended up with resings that were the same as one of the series that WABC used. Go figure.

Kool 98.3 out of Atlantic City also uses the Do It Again package with TKU-FM in the jingles. As much as I do associate the Do It Again Package with WCBS-FM since it was made for them and I listened to them the whole time..it's nice to hear it elsewhere as well.

Would be nice if DRC-FM started streaming online as well.

Look for many changes to come since they hired the new GM at DRC.

When Big D was a rocker its jingles were mainly from TM and later on from Thunder Productions.

The old WABC jingles that Big D used in the late 80's were re-sings of PAMS jingles via Jam Creative.
