I must be the "cool" one...my first record was Aerosmith's "Permanent Vacation". My third-hand record player broke less than a month after I got it, so I got the cassette version of "Permanent Vacation", which I still have after moving 11 times over nearly 15 years...

=) ah...ah...DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LAAAAADAAAY!! In '68 I was 11, and just starting to listen to the radio. Before radio it was baseball,football...and fourth grade! "Angel in the Morning" was getting alot of airplay. Three years later so was "Take Me Home Country Roads". A year later I wanted to be a radio DJ! Then the year after that... at 16, I was on-the-air! In 1986, my record collection was the library for an oldies station! AH!!!! Trivia: What radio station in the Richmond Market was the first to go Compact Disc...? (a trick question)Which Richmond TV station was first to go stereo...? Has Ch12 ever been beaten in the ratings? Whatever happened to my transylvania twist... they did the mash. They did the Monster Mash! lol <P ID="signature">______________

Shoot, maybe they were all so archaic, they went directly from carts to computer automation!

Seriously, you would think it was Q-94, but I will guess the odd-balls and go with an AM'er (WRVA, WLEE...etc..) or...hehe...WCVE-FM...or *snickers* WRFK

> Which Richmond TV station was first to go

I want to say WTVR, but...

I do think ch. 12 was the first to go color...

> Has Ch12 ever been beaten in the ratings?

I wasn't watching back then, but I heard channel 8 had a decent news team in the 70's...Other than that, I might guess they got beaten pre-Jefferson-Pilot takeover

XL102 was first w/CD's. In '85, Ch12 announced they were the first stereo tv station...actually Ch8 was... Ch8 hadn't announced it yet. Ch12 beat them promoting the stereo signal... There may have been some technical issues impeding their announcement. The first Virginia stereo tv station was WVIR...
I believe you are correct with the first color television signal in Richmond was Ch12's... and when former top rated Ch12 News Anchor Charles Fishburne came back to Richmond ['84] to Ch6. Ch6 shortly there after went to #1... Then Ch12, then Ch6, then Ch12, Ch6... a ratings war. The Noon News on Ch6 has been #1 for the past 20years. Ch8 has only been as high as #2... ten years ago! When Ch6 was in between owners, due to the death of Roy H. Park, they dipped to #3. One more piece of Richmond TV trivia... Which TV station first implemented the 90 minute newscast format? WTVR Ch6.
