Drew Carey to Host "The Price is Right"

... my guess is that it may reverse the trend that CBS has as catering to the 65-Death demographic.

So basically they're "younging down" the show - just like what they're doing over at TV Land...

Me being the ever-curious person that I am, plus being a lifelong TPIR fan, I'll tune in with Drew Carey as host. To me, he's a pretty likable guy, which is a plus, and does some good mainstream name recognition unlike many of the other potential hosts.

As far as the set, I'm maybe in the minority of TPIR fans in saying that maybe the set does need an overhaul, but nothing overly drastic to piss off the old-school fans. Also, since the Bob Barker Studio is equipped for HD (they have HD cameras in the studio, mostly due to Real Time with Bill Maher also being produced on the same soundstage), I wonder if CBS would take TPIR to HD?

Maybe I have had my head in the sand too long, but I do not know who Todd Newton is. I do know John o'Hurley, and I would not have bene happy with him on TPIR. he has always come across as HOKEY to me, just a little too false and "Ain't I pretty" for my taste.

I think that Drew is a great choice and that he will do a good job with it.

Also I liked his comments on Letterman about the Michael Vick situation. He said that if the NFL didn't take action to keep Vick out, that he would not watch any NFL games this year..

While the Bob Barker studio may be equipped for HD, "Real Time with Bill Maher" is still produced in SD.

Wait...I thought that studio was exclusively for "TPIR" only?

No, it's not exclusive.

And to the poster who said they were in the minority on thinking the set could use an upgrade, I'm with you.

There are lots of ways to keep the three doors format while still giving it a nive new look for a new host.

I stand corrected...could have sworn it was.
