Drew Carey

Huh? Did I miss Drew quitting or getting fired?

I just don't see Drew leaving TPIR unless he gets in some sort of scandal, or if the ratings really take a dive, and nothing like that has happened yet. Also, he's somewhere around 60 and considering that Bob Barker hosted the show into his 80's Drew could have a while to go as host.

Perhaps there is some confusion with Alex Trebek, who is battling blood clots in the brain. He will be taking some time off. He was also set to retire sometime in the next year or so.

As for Carey, I have seen absolutely nothing indicating he is retiring or being replaced.

59 to be exact; will be 60 May 23 of this year. As a side note: when Drew reaches 60, do you think that there will be a special TPIR to celebrate that birthday?

Yes - unless ratings have dived, why would Carey leave? If Barker was any indication, Carey can easily do another decade. It's not like they have to plan it now. It's funny, every time I say or type "Carey," I hear his name in Craig Ferguson's voice. Anyway - it's a sweet gig for Drew - I'm sure his salary is huge, and IIRC, the taping schedule for game shows is one, or maybe 2 days per week, back to back.

He commented the other night that he had been asked when he was retiring. His answer was that Iain Armitage scares him, meaning he knows he can be replaced.

Of course there will be. TPIR has never met a "theme" show that they didn't like.

They did one for Bob's 90th in 2013, and also for April Fools 2015 when George thought he was bringing Drew out, but it was actually Bob who came out (Bob being in for one IUFB, one pricing game [Lucky $even], and one Showcase]).

I still can't warm up to George as the announcer. To be fair, nobody can replace Johnny or Rod.

George G. isn't bad. He does try to be "cutsey" at times, but it doesn't hurt the show. And if he stopped saying "hi momma may", the audience would go into massive convulsions!

I never thought I would ever say this, but I tune in before heading to work just to know that the earth is still turning. If "come on down" wasn't being shouted there would be something terribly wrong! (I jest, of course, but it does offer some comfort I'm sure for many viewers, and perhaps that is a good thing).

It looks like they are purposely dumbing down the audience, or maybe I never noticed it before. They seem a lot more "out there" than before.
