From the Huffington Post (by Sheldon Drobny):
I am a good friend of Mike Malloy and when I started Air America Radio, I wanted him ... [SNIP]
When I got a call from Mike Malloy yesterday I was shocked that the AAR board had not offered him a contract.

He is the lowest paid of all the regular hosts on AAR and they put him in an awful time slot, 10pm-1am ET. As I stated before, I am a minority owner of AAR and I am not on the board of directors. ... [SNIP]
However, the AAR board does not seem to want my advice. It is a shame because I could really help. I have lots of experience in business and I understand good talk radio.

Drobny adds later in the piece, "I suspect Malloy's termination was more about personality than performance. It certainly was not about money."   He then urges readers to contact AAR to complain.

Drobny's piece also sounds like he feels shut out and is not happy.

In a related note (sort of): In today's New York Daily News, usually excellent radio columnist David Hinckley has a piece on AAR's move from WLIB to WWRL.  In it he says the WWRL line-up will include Mike Malloy.

Malloy's dream slot

Give me a break, Malloy wanted that slot. In fact, he was pretty excited about it since it would allow him to use more angry and offensive language than his previous mid-aftarnoon slot, from when he was on that Auto Workers Union network. I forgot the name of it already.
