Drudge: Beck may jump to Fox News Ch

Hi everyone:

Drudge has it under "Developing" that Glenn Beck may sign with Fox News Channel to do a 5 pm show.
Not gonna happen. He's too popular in primetime over on CNN HN.

If he goes ANYWHERE at all, it would be to MSNBC (They could use him in primetime over there).

JMO...

Cheers :)

FYI, Fox may also have a void in the 6 PM hour upon the retirement of Brit Hume.

how true is this? I've heard nothing about a replacement program/host. They have no other Washington politics daily wrap up show (think Cavuto for the daily financial wrap up, Hume for Washington politics), I would guess Beck gets the 5pm slot because there's nothing there after the election and one of the Friday fill-ins becomes a regular host on Special Report.

"not gonna happen," eh? Well at least that's true for calendar year 2008. As for next year: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6606133.html

It's gonna happen..... ;)

As for MSNBC, there was no way they'd even let Beck in the door. The only "conservatives" allowed on that set must show veterinary records proving that they've been neutered and vaccinated. Examples who immediately come to mind include Scarborough and Smerconish.

That is because Michael Savage came in with some illness, and spewed out hatred against homosexuals and wishing a caller got AIDS. Sadly, he is still on the radio spewing out hatred against all sorts of people.

Seriously, it sounds like Beck was hypnotised by the bias of Fixed Noise and wanted to be a part of it. On the flip side, Headline News can go back to being more credible again (it that matters...Headline News is a waste of spectrum that can be used to launch more digital cable channels).

It is going to happen.

Good move for Fox. Beck is, in my opinion, the most entertaining syndicated radio host on the air. (The old Phil Hendrie shows used to be...)

When did "spewing hatred" become the left's default argument to silence the right? I'm just curious. Savage is a very unconventional talk host who occasionally steps in it. However, he also runs a successful syndicated show and has a constitutional right to say what he says. Whether you agree with it or not.

If you do not agree with what someone has to say, you have every right to speak your piece with an intelligent rebuke of why you don't agree with it and how you feel about it. That's your right and you deserve it. Make an intelligent argument as to why you think Michael Wiener is a clown and why you know better. That's fine.

You can voice your opinion as you see fit; however, that same respect must be given to Savage...just as it is extended to the likes of Minister Farrakhan, Jesse "cut his nuts off" Jackson, and anyone else in this country. If you dislike what one of them has to say, switch the channel/change the station/put in a CD or DVD/use the "off" button.

Using inflammatory language like "spewing hatred" or (my favorite) "you're a racist!" only serves to censor, bully and silence those who you do not agree with. And, it frightens me how often this tactic is successful. Talk about intolerance. Frankly, I am sick of reading it and find it offensive.

Because I find it offensive, you shouldn't say it....or I'll call Nancy Pelosi on you! That's where we're headed, right?

Ok, Beck is leaving...so what takes his place?

I started thinking...I came up with a great idea. It's weird, but ..check it out.

At the top of the hour...we see a news anchor. You know what he or she is going to do? Well he or she isnt going to squeal how happy they are to see us...and gush over what we're going to see.

He or she will start reading news. yes. NEWS.... with these video reports from...reporters...

You know. On things like politics, economy, world issues.

Do that for ..oh I don't know 14 minutes straight, no commercials.

Then..a break..then come back with a business roundup...

Another break.

Back with some short sports stories...oh..call it..um....lets see...Headline Sports...

Last Break

Bumper story. Something from pop culture, or human interest.

Then at the bottom of the hour..

Do it again!

No more arguing, pontificating or accusatory commentary for at least a half hour!

No more slandering of other talk show hosts, ALL of whom attempt to make themselves bigger than the story 5 nights a week

To Quote the boys in the brewery: "Brilliant!"

^^^ You've almost described the PBS News Hour. (not a half hour)...

Problem is it probably will not get ratings. I am reminded of when WBBM (CBS2 in Chicago) experimented with a no-fluff, serious newscast earlier in the decade. It was billed as an alternative to the usual Chicago happy talk, bleeds-it-leads mentality. It flopped. They went back to the usual nonsense soon after.
