DRUNK POSTING TIME

YEAH, WENT AND HAD A FEW DRINKS (OK...I'M DRUNK) AND I THINK IT'S TIME TO GET MYSELF IN A LITTLE LEGAL TROUBLE...HAHAHAH

I'M WILLING TO BET THIS POST WON'T BE HERE IN THE MORNING BUT THIS IS FUN WHEN I'M DRUNK...

HEY MR. MODERATOR...JUST LEAVE THIS UP FOR A FEW DAYS...PLEASE?

SO LET'S TALK ABOUT THOSE CLOWNS AT ARCHWAY BROADCASTING....LOL

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME A WORD THAT RHYMES WITH MAYOLA? OHHHH, OHHH I SEE A HAND IN THE CROWD AND IT'S FROM ONE OF THE ARCHWAY OWNERS...YES, THAT'S RIGHT...P-A-Y-O-L-A ...IS THE CORRECT ANSWER FOR $2,500 AND A TRIP TO NY AND A SONY PLAYSTATION GAME SYSTEM...

QUESTION NUMBER 2...HOW MANY ARCHWAY OWNERS DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB?....OK, I SEE A HAND IN THE CROWD...YES SIR YOU ARE RIGHT...NONE!....THEY LET EVERYONE ELSE DO THE DIRTY WORK AND THEN THEY FIRE THEM...HAHAHAHA...

QUESTION 3...HOW COME NOT ONE LOCAL TV STATION OR NEWS PAPER COVERED THE STORY OF A LOCAL RADIO STATION BEING INVOLVED IN THE 2ND BIGGEST PAYOLA SCANDAL IN THE HISTORY OF RADIO BUT CNN, MTV, ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE AND JAY LENO ALL TALKED ABOUT IT?....YES, I SEE ANOTHER HAND AND ONCE AGAIN, IT'S FROM AN ARCHWAY OWNER....YES SIR, YOU ARE RIGHT...BECAUSE YOU PAID THEM OFF...HAHAHAHA....

QUESTION 4...WHAT COMPANY JUST LEGALY SETTLED OUT OF COURT WITH ANOTHER RADIO PERSONALITY WHO WAS THERE FOR 13 YEARS BUT WAS FIRED IN A ILLEGAL MANNER? HMMMM, CAN I ANSWER THIS ONE? WHY YES I CAN BECAUSE I'M TYPING THIS...HAHAHAHA...THAT WOULD BE MY FORMER EMPLOYER...LOL

QUESTION 5...WHAT RADIO COMPANY IS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED FOR LAUNDERING...OHHH NO, I DON'T SEE ANY HANDS IN THE CROWD....THAT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL ARCHWAY OWNERS AND THEY ARE IN CUFFS...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Wow! How bitter. I hope you get over your anger long enough to land another gig. Humor like that will take you a long way!

No, must've missed the class where Mel was fired from a radio station (for whatever reason) and became bitter and spouted off online after a few drinks(possibly justified).

I did, however, hear about how Mel got drunk, got pulled over and started asking the cop if he was Jewish because Jews started most if not all of the wars of the world and blah, blah, blah...

So let me see your notes...what did we learn about the Mel Gibson incident that is remotely related to Van Patten's post...aside from the commonality of alcohol used as an excuse for the vent.

What we learned is that you should never burn a bridge you might want to cross at sometime in the future! Sure, it's ok to be pissed when you get fired - but you are much better served to vent your anger privately. This is an open forum - and people who are in high places in other companies do occasionally read here. Just look at the number of views vs the number of posts on a thread. For example, this one has had four posts and 68 views. No telling who the 68 were!

By the way, there are two kinds of people in radio - those that have been fired and those that will be fired! We all must learn to move on. Doesn't mean you have to be happy about it - just realistic!

Gino Baybeee.........street rumor sez you got dat right...word up they let Blake tred da plank while one local PD did a Sgt. Shultz stinky....and he KNEW da troof ta everything!!!

How...cause he was in on everything and then got away with everything all the way to F-ville (why F-ville...low self-esteem/talent). And if dat stink ain't bad'nough, da PD dat he replaced, known in real "tight" circles as "Cheese Wiz", was in with da big boys in Atlanta, a.k.a. "Da 2-1/2 Stooges".....and made hay while da sun was shinning SO bright.

Now...here's da Hawaiian punch line.... street sez one of da stooges has flipped careers and is now a singer.....thaz right, and he is singing like a pure-bred canary who knows da words to da-whole-dang-song!

Ain't dat pretty? And whaz even prettier than dat.....da jig is up on da front and back billboards dat were suppose to wrap da label paid music plays, a.k.a. "Time Buys"...street sez copies of profit logs and traffic affadavits bolted the confines of da file cabinet in da Spring of '05

Hmmmmm...as my Sweet 'Ol Granny use ta say...dem boyz are SCA-RUDE!

Wow...Burning a bridge with Archway? I will never work for anyone who has ever been part of Archway Broadcasting as long as I live. Why not look at it like this...THEY BURNED A BRIDGE WITH ME! Just because you are running company RIGHT NOW doesn't mean you won't be back to being just a sales person again someday...who knows how long that job will last? Just ask Brian, Chris, Al and the countless others who have been removed from their positions at the top....lol...PLEASE!

I don't care who I piss off...never have never will!

bI get hired on my talent and my work ethics. Program directors don't give a crap about waht you post on a message board...and If this is someone in the Archway group that thinks you'll have any say on my future in radio...YOU ARE MISTAKEN! Don't give yourself or the other monkey's that much credit...I actuly ended up in a better place after I was fired...what's that say?

OHHHH NOOOO....I BURNED A BRIDGE WITH ARCHWAY....OHHHH NOOOOO....I'LL BE PRAISED DOWN THE ROAD....hahaha

Amen!!! I give you kudos for standing your ground. If someone puts 13 years of their life in to a job like you did, and you were let go the unprofessional way that you were, I would say that THEY burned the bridge, not you.

That's OK, I guess. Burn your bridges. I just don't see that is makes any positive difference. You trash the company, but nobody cares and it does nothing to hurt them. Someone comes along and takes you job and they are happy as a clam and life goes on.

Listen, I know Big Radio does it that way all the time. Happened to me last year - two days before my birthday - and after 12 years with the station. Truth is, I am better off today - have a great job away from radio - having a great time and don't have to screw with Big Radio!

I never trashed the station or its people and don't intend to because it serves no purpose.

One more thing "XTalker"

it's a comment on this...

By the way, there are two kinds of people in radio - those that have been fired and those that will be fired! We all must learn to move on. Doesn't mean you have to be happy about it - just realistic!

There are two kinds of people in radio but you have it wrong - Those that have fired and those that will fire the one that fired them! We all do move on. It doesn't mean you have to be happy but it does mean if you have any balls, you'll stand your ground and comeback fighting. THAT'S REALISTIC MY FRIEND!

It may not serve a purpose to you but when I can vent on a forum or when anyone wants to trash a bad company at a place like this, it helps my brothers and sisters who are out of work looking for a place to call home. It can open someones eyes and make them think twice and ask questions they otherwise wouldn't of asked about certain companies. It helps plant that seed for my former friends who are still wondering if they should leave that place...I've read so many negative postings here about certain companies that I found out to be true and guess what??????? It saved me from going to work there...It helped me take things into consideration...

Everyone has a mind of their own and everyone will do what they want in the end but I love the fact that I can come here and read some of the trashings....there's always some truth! ALWAYS!

It's an open forum and open forums speak freely...you should be praising me, not trying to hold me or anyone else down that wants to come here and vent. If it gets out of hand then there's a moderator...I'm assuming I've almost or I may of already crossed the line with that moderator...if that's the case, then they will delete my self-righteous little drunk posting or keep it up a few more days because they are entertained by my lack of self respect...lol

Greg,

Say what you want when you want, especially about Archway. It has been fun to watch and it will get a lot better...that I can promise.

Besides, who over there could do you any harm...... Bill....? Kathy....? I think not! Look, everyone knows who and what they are. Hell, I don't have to say it because their actions say it a whole lot better than I can.

Just look what has happened to that cluster since their arrival....and all the BS that has been shoveled, the blame that has been placed on the wrong people and last but not least those who have flourished in the process.

It turns my stomach......however, what goes around....comes around...and it won't be long before the day that comes when the questions will be asked in a more formal setting!

This is "come back fighting?"
Man no offense but it's coming across as "whiny bitching" and "shrill drunk guy pissing into the wind" at a place where it won't do any good, because the target of your drunken tirade is not here.

Okay, you do raise a point. Mel wasn't fired from a radio station. Getting pulled for a dewey and pulling the "Do you know who I am?" card likely made the policeman think he was a frustrated dj though.

Put your pencils down and trade papers with XTalker or another competent fellow student.

Now for the similarities: Check these off as we go, if you got them all, give yourself a star:
Mel was making anti-Semitic statements and looking like an ass. Gene Vanpatten is making anti-Archway statements and, same result, looking like an ass.
Both used alcohol as their excuse to do what they wanted to do before alcohol was involved.
Neither one's shrill complaints will produce any benefit.
Both are likely mad at something else and misplacing their anger.

One key difference:
Mel apologized and seems to have moved on as far as he can to this point.

Good luck to any students who missed all the questions, you have a future in phone screening for a "Do you know who I am?" dewey dj. ;D

Ok quadraphonic... this forum is not my "comeback fighting", I think you missed the point to what I was trying to say...

There's people who fire...and don't really care about who they fire...as long as they can make budget and keep their fat paychecks until they move to another company to screw up.

Then there's people who get fired...comeback...work twice as hard with a goal to be in a position where they can end up fireing the people who fired them....I'm not saying it's my goal to ever fire anyone from Archway but it is my goal to be in a position where if I ever wanted to, I could fire them or anyone in that position...make sense? I'm just venting and possibly helping to spread the word about Archway Broadcasting. I think the only other person who understands on this board is guidoponzini because he's worked directly with them and has seen how bad this company has operated over the years and not just in this market! That company has destroyed peoples lives, done some pretty illegeal things and continues to fill their own pockets without giving back properly to the people who made them rich for now...Why is it wrong to get the word out about them?

And for Scott...
You're 100% right...I did not Apologize (unlike Mel) and don't see a need too...(I WAS FIRED) and as far as looking like an ass goes...yep...it's part of my charm...seriously! One drunk posting on a mesage board is a far cry from anti-semitic comments. Comparing me to Mel Gibson is funny and a terrible analogy...

I just want to make an observation. XTalker says he/she is out of the radio business and very happy, but I noticed that he/she sure does visit this board many times a day. Must miss something about it....
I am not saying that to be ugly in any way. Just a neutral observation.

I do miss how it used to be and am really concerned about the future of the business many of us love. I go back to radio if it were like it used to be.

To quote Gene: There's people who fire...and don't really care about who they fire...as long as they can make budget and keep their fat paychecks until they move to another company to screw up..

He just described radio! Seldom are people fired who should be fired. I know of a morning show producer/board operator who sleeps on the job - and gets caught all the time. Does he get fired? No! It is amazing.

My main point to Gene is to get over it and move on. You will feel so much better and you will be happier! I wish you the best.

Thanks for scoring, but I hate to tell you...I aced the test. Clearly, you tanked it(but, on the bright side, since you entirely missed the point, you qualify to be President of the United States...enjoy!).

Point being: Anti Archway comments in no way, shape or form, are related to anti-semitic remarks...not even close.
And that, friend, much like the appearance of a sentence run-on or comma splice in an English exam final, is cause enough to fail anyone taking the test.

Alcohol was involved, but that's where the similarities end. But hey, you're a smart guy, once you take a good look at what you wrote, you'll realize how the two actions are almost completely different. If you don't, then keep on plugging that head deep into the "sand of knowledge" and ignoring the obvious going on around you.

XTalker...I'll speak for myself...For the most part, I have moved on but it takes time and it takes speaking your mind...will trashing any company on this board be useful for my career? Possibly not but it makes me feel better about myself knowing I outed a terrible company and gave a heads up to anyone ever thinking of working there...I'm not so self-absorbed to realize my full motives and intentions of posting what I did.

You are right about the wrong people being fired...It happens all the time but the ones with talent and drive will continue to work...if they chose too.

You mentioned going back to the way radio use to be....that's done and that's something you HAVE to get past. I think radio took a dark path for many years but with everything that's happened in the last 2-3 years with the FCC and the lack of truly talented jocks, that radio brought on itself by firing them and creating a industry or liner card jocks, the iron is warming up for the true talent and it's time to strike...there's a void right now for REAL TALENT and radio has realized it...The ones with talent, the ones who know how to do great radio and the ones who have been able to survive the dark years of radio are about to flourish and turn radio on it's head...that iron will be red hot within the next 2 years or so and you're gonna see salaries rise again, some hats being removed and I really believe we are on a path to great radio again...

Listen to me XTalker...I think if you are a talented personality and learned radio the old school way and ready to learn some new tricks, then get back into it because things are getting better...smaller and medium size markets (like this one) may take a little longer but the smart jocks and the ones with talent have known this for years and have layed low in markets like this....that's why you're hearing some really good talent in these smaller markets...those talentless jocks in major markets are about to get a rude awekening and the P.D.'s won't have any choice but to hire the REAL TALENT...that's my humble prediction.
