Just heard announcer say that DSC no longer on KGB and details to follow. Is this for real and if so how did the sneak under the radar...

DSC Gone From KGB??

Announcer Bryan Shock just stated that DSC were offered lucrative deal but they refused it. KGB revenues down and business has changed. How can the best team in radio be not paid what they were worth? Tragic!!
It would seem unreal to me that CC San Diego would start 2010 with no Mikey Show or no DSC. If anything you would think they would double down on DSC. Maybe with station prices down Dave can buy his own station. It really stuns me as to why ownership would be so inept at keeping a show that gives them 10 hours of programming a day?
There is a statement at 101kgb.com similar to the one that CC put up when Mikey left. "We made DSC a lucrative offer...we are sorry they are no longer with us...We wish them well."
I can't believe that they would let DSC go either. Between filling the morning and night shift plus the all DSC HD-2 channel they provided a hell of a lot of programming for the station.
Bryan and Cal Walker were on around 7:45 and Bryan likened the breakup to a divorce and compared the leaving of DSC to when Berger and Prescott left the station.

I hate to say "I told you so," but I did. CC is cutting big salaries. They've been emboldened by the success of AJ moving to Star to replace J&J. Ratings are the same, if not better in some cases. Cost is a fraction of J&J. Mikey out. DSC out. KUSS morning show costs next to nothing, as does KHTS morning show. KLSD may have the highest payroll at this point. What's next? They still have 4 off-air Program Directors (which is probably a CC record), and at some point they will probably re-examine what they are paying AJ (even though it's not much by comparison to DSC/Mikey/J&J). Also, Chip Franklin at KOGO is probably not cheap either.
I might go with "I told you so..." but you have to admit that KGB got a LOT of programming out of DSC. Far more than I think anyone else at Granite Ridge. But still, if they leave Bryan in the morning and voicetrack afternoons and evenings they probably come out way ahead on this. And yet another but, it still stinks to see all the talent (morning, afternoon or otherwise) being shown the door and told "We dont really need you anymore."
im feeling very bad for ALL the listeners all over the world..coe had a breakdown and i dont blame her what so ever..inside sourse at clearchannel told me the deal was in upwards of 3.4 million that dave wanted..all the podcasts,cds, everything is shutdown..sponcers are dropping like flys at kgb..at&t ,barona ,sleeptrain budweiser and a few others..daves free thursday golf WAS going to make a comeback..worth over 75 thousand a year..the look out at kgb is looking very dim..also,skyshow and the chilli cook off is going next..i wouldnt be suprised if the dsc went to xm or even buy there own station with a profit share system.it very hard to believe that clear channel would let go such a staple in san diego..now how does san diego laugh in the morning???

Cash flows are down and budgets are being slashed, but that's not the main reasons for these morning show cuts. It has to do with the PPM. Personality driven morning shows on music intensive stations have not done well with the meter. It's happened in other markets besides San Diego. Yes, there is salary savings but 94.1 has done just fine in the ratings without J&J. I'm sure DSC was offered a "lucrative contract" but I'm not sure it was nearly as "lucrative" as KGB says, and it was probably an amount the station knew they'd say no to. Bryan won't be the long term answer, but whoever they put in morning drive will be playing at least 8 songs an hour...

What the hell is Clear Channel San Diego doing... first J&J leave, Mikey show is gone, now THIS?! The morning drive BETTER NOT BE VOICETRACKED LIKE 9-3-3 IS! I want it LIVE AND LOCAL!
wouldt be suprised if kgb folded in the near future..dsc kept that station alive..sponcers are pulling out left and right....huge void..as for voice tracking...i WONT BE LISTENING!!!!work with the dsc clear channel.......musicman3355 said:

Clear Channel is BROKE WAY over extended. If they could find buyers for the San Diego properties SOLD. Now just find a bank to lean money for the San Diego properties Good Luck.
over 2000 people on facebook a group boycotting the removal of the dsc..pretty crazy stuff.also a organised petition in front of the station soon..people calling the cc head office in texas...we all are doing out part to bring the dsc back to san diego airways!!!!!!!!!!!!!its NOT the same in san diego!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with that, but I doubt there'll be any change in CC that will bring DSC back. All of the broadcast companies are becoming very talent cost conscious and they've figured out that they can do better with the bottom line with the talent gone. The decline in listening and ad revenues is pressuring everyone.
join up on facebook..over 2500 members..called up cc in texas..they actually were nice about it..i talked to a stacy out there and she said that we possibly did a mistake removing the morning show on 101.5 kgb in san diego..
rally on wednesday morning..lash wednesday in front of the clear channel studios..7am in protest of the removal of the dsc!!!!!!!!!come and join in everyone! ;D
