Having moved away from the area, I am wondering how the changes in the Des Moines TV landscape are going. I have watched the WHO webcast with Erin Kiernan -- can't wait for her to come back on air!! Does anyone else watch it? Is there a buzz surrounding her coming back this summer?

How about the moves in sports, with Meisenheimer going to 13 and Andy Garmon taking over on 8? How long until they finally move Heidi out?

And how is the weekend morning news going on channel 8? Is it worth watching?

I don't think many people around here give a rip about Erin Kiernan, to be honest with you. I think WHO is putting way too much stock into her in hopes that they can somehow pull past KCCI in the ratings, and its not going to happen. Sure, some viewers will be pulled away from KCCI to WHO for a little while when they put her on the air, but they'll eventually go back to KCCI and the ratings will end up the same as they are right now. WHO is making a desperate push to get past KCCI with Meisenheimer and Kiernan, but I don't see it happening. For one thing, they don't put Meisenheimer on the air enough.

Andy Garman does pretty well for KCCI. You're right about Heidi, they need to put her out of her misery. She can't pronounce names of national sports figures and can't keep track of many of the important sports stories. Hell, I know more about local and national sports than she does and I've got a full time job that has nothing to do with sports! Its her freaking job to know what she's talking about on sports and she rarely does!

Haven't seen the KCCI Saturday morning show. I can tell you though, I'm sure there are a lot of mad kids with them taking the cartoons off the air, the second local station to do it now.
 
KCCI is still airing the kiddie shows, they have to, it's an FCC requirement that all broadcast stations have to air 3 hours of "educational" shows on the weekend. What KCCI is doing is airing 90 minutes on Saturday and 90 minutes on Sunday of Blues Clues, Dora and other Nick JR. produced shows.

As far as local news goes, myself, I could care less what channel I get the news from, if anything I watch a lot of Channel 5, the constant chest thumping of 8 & 13 get's rather old.

I agree about the constant hype. It really gets old. I would think they'd rather sell that time to clients and back off a littl on the bragging..especially 8. With their strong stance..they're beating a dead horse.
I dont care how many Gazillion watts the radar is. All of the Super Doppler Flopler radars are not as easy to read as the former systems.
As for Kiernan..there IS a lot of street talk about her getting back on. Im sure 13 doesnt have any faults hopes of beating 8..but they could very well narrow the margin. The team at 8 are okay. They're comfortable for Aunt Mabel to watch. I personally think the 13 team is a little more watchable. Kiernan will do well. Now..back to radio......Anyone hear the new show on KXNO?
 
Andy Garman is sooooooo much easier to watch than Heidi. Good choice KCCI.

Personally, I used to like Meisenheimer, but Andy isn't so dramatic, so now I like him better.
