I can echo this statment. Although I haven't had the chance to run it against some of the other high end processors due to my location and our budget, but this little box puts out a powerful sound. It comes with some really good presets. Most defiently would reccomend it to a station looking for a new processor that is on tight budget, and even a station with a large budget. Defiently worth checking out.

OK, I was waiting for someone to get DSPeXtra so can I hear some comments :)

Couple of questions: How did you guys like DSPX? Which of the competitors processors does it rival in your opinion?

How much do you feel DSPeXtra is an improvement over DSPX? How much is it different (sound wise)?

I had a demo DSP-eXtra for a few days (had to get it back so it could travel to the NAB Radio show in Philly).

The Ariane front end would help any airchain, here it complements the 6 bands of limiting very well in one package. Even with passive settings it provides predictable and powerful level control.

The 6 band limiter is very loud and clean, and you can drive it much harder than the DSP-X. Hearing the eXtra, then being able to look at the Omnia and Orban offerings a day or two later in Philly, this box is in that class. Actually, the eXtra and the Inovonics Omega (which has also come a long way) were the most pleasing to listen to and to adjust.

The DSP-X mini is also something I have looked for for years. An effective multiband limiter, clipper and generator in the digital domain that small educationals can afford. In budget situations, an old pair of Prisms or even an old Compellor or an Orban Co-Operator or 424A is all you need to emulate a signature major market sound... all for under $2000.

And, as for the DSP-X, one major market user just told me he got 3dB louder over his previous processing with no noticable change in audio quality.
