DTV In Myrtle Beach

I purchased the Zenith Digital Box and I got in a couple channels. I may need to use a better antenna as all I am using is a square radio antenna off my radio. It works fine. Here are the channels I get in.

WPDE 16.1
WWMB 20.1
WWMB 20.2
ETV 9.1
ETV 9.2
ETV-HD 9.3
WMBF 32-1
WFXB 18-1
WFXB 18-2

Only local I am not able to get is WBTW 56-1 which stinks. I can pick everyone else up but not them.
I got WCBD 50-1 for a second but thats all.

Aim your rabbit ears broadside to Brunswick County where all the Wilmington Stations are?? Go to your DTV menu and load all of them.

WBTW may be on reduced power. They have Special Temporary Authority to operate at 19.5kw from an antenna about 700' lower than their analog antenna. They also have a construction permit to go to 1000kw from an antenna only about 170' below the analog antenna, but they don't seem to have filed for a license-to-cover for that. Since they're going to be abandoning channel 56 in two weeks (and returning to channel 13) they may have decided not to build the full-power channel 56 facility. (I have no way to know whether they may have in fact built it and be operating with program test authority)

The other side of that is that they're considerably further away than channel 9, so if your antenna isn't very efficient on VHF it may not receive the channel 13 digital signal. (then again, it might, as WBTW will be considerably more powerful - and have an antenna more than twice as high - than channel 9)

I have gotten a signal from the Wilmington Stations but not that strong to pick up a picture. They won't go past red just like the Charleston, SC stations. I need to get a new antenna which might help me pick up both markets stations plus WBTW.

Not to start a new topic so Im just going post in this one. So how did everyone do? I get just about the same channels as before. Just checked my box the other day and unpluged the cable. Still no WBTW strong enough but can I now can get WCSC and WCBD when I have my rabbit ears right.

From N. Charleston unhooking the cable I got:

WCBD 2.0 (NBC)
WCDB 2.1 (CW)
WCIV 4.1 (ABC)
WCSC 5.1 (CBS)
WCSC 5.2 (currently a test pattern but suppose to be a weather station)
WITV 7.1 (PBS)
SC CHANNEL 7.2
ETV WORLD 7.3
WTAT 24.1 (FOX)

I wasn't able to pick up WMMP 36 (MyTV Net), the new WLCN 18 and their two subchannels, WAZS LP 22 (Azteca America), and WJNI LP 42 (America One)
