DTV now in Globe/Miami

Belo has fired up its digital KTVK translator on channel 14 and shut down the analog signal on channel 57. The signal is a mess, with a data stream full of errors despite 100% signal strength, and sometimes, the signal suddenly drops off to zero, then immediately rebounds to 90-100%, but I'm sure all these will be fixed shortly. This completes the station's move down the UHF dial - they were once on channel 80 back in the day.

This is the first DTV station to come online in the Cobre Valley. Meredith had a construction permit to flash cut their analog KPHO translator on channel 59 to digital on channel 27, but allowed it to expire. They have refiled, and have an STA to proceed pending official grant of the CP. Will they be far behind? Univision also has a CP to flash cut its Telefutura translator on channel 16.

And the answer is...no, they will not be far behind. K59CI has begun digital operations on channel 27 per STA and its analog operations on channel 59 are terminated.

That leaves Globe/Miami with only one out-of-core station: K61FB (KPNX 12).
