I was reading this on usenet and thought it was an interesting discussion
Basically it's the thought that right now OTA broadcasters are showing HDTV, but the theory is as soon as DTV switch takes place, the stations are only going to offer their OTA programmin in digital format. Then they will offer High Def versions of the programmers to cable and dish users and charge them for it. Since the FCC only mandates one channel of free programing, it'd be interesting to see if the station will eventually develope (maybe they have already) the ability to transmit the standard digital program on one of their OTA channels and the high def version on the remaining OTA channels.
Any thoughts if this will happen?
