DTV standards

Of the 3 tv standards being use worldwide. ATSC (North America), DVB-T (Europe, Asia, & Africa), and ISBT(Japan & Brazil).

Which of these Digital TV standards are the best?

Also, are all 3 standards are compatiable?

Will my ATSC turner from US will work in Europe or Japan?

Also I heard ATSC is not a good standard for mobile tv device, is this true?

Let's take this in order.

It's a matter of opinion. I don't know enough about the systems to want to give an opinion.

No.

No.

True. It cannot tolerate the Doppler effect, and thus does not work in vehicles, etc. That's what ATSC-M/H is supposed to fix.

ISDB-T (Japan & Brazil). ATSC is also used in South Korea.

I think that's like asking "what's the best rock band?" It depends.

Arguably ATSC is better at getting a signal to a wide area for a given amount of power. DVB-T is better at reaching a greater number of locations (including mobile locations) within the area closer to the transmitter. Sinclair asked the FCC to allow stations to choose between the ATSC and DVB-T modulation schemes. (while transmitting a ATSC bitstream - so all you'd have to switch in the receiver is the demodulator)

No. Unfortunately we couldn't see fit to choose an internationally-compatible system...

So I can bring my analog tv to Japan since they use NTSC over there but I cannot bring my DTV to Japan since they use a different system. Is this is same for Cuba, & South AMerica since they don't use ATSC standard?
