DTV Waiver For NYC

And already the arguments begin

See article here --><a target="_blank" href=http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6277288.html?display=Breaking+News&referral=SUPP&nid=2228>Lin TV Opposes DTV Waiver For NYC</a>

From above article
"There could be a skirmish on Capitol Hill between New York and Connecticut TV stations.

Using terms like "devastate," "disastrous" and "treacherous," the president of LIN TV's WTNH/WCTX New Haven, Conn., has written key senators and congressmen from Connecticut and elsewhere to oppose a waiver from the DTV transition hard date for New York stations."

(See above article for full story)

So comments? Will NYC get a waiver? Do they "really" need one? Or is this just part of an overall delay for DTV?<P ID="signature">______________

Connectiut TV exec Jon Hitchcock said:

"Not only will these households be cut off from
news concerning their local governments and elected
officials, but candidates running for office who wish
to purchase campaign advertising in those areas will
have no choice but to buy time on New York City Stations,
the most expensive braodcast (sic) market in the country."

If he thinks it would be bad in Connecticut, he should
take a look at northern New Jersey today where there
are no local commercial television stations!!
