Duane Doherty Gone From Lonestar

He WILL be missed, maybe not by CC, but by the people he worked with. Duane truly is one of the good guys. It was my pleasure to work with him for 5 years. {See they really do fire everybody that's any good (almost).} I think you could count on your fingers the number of good people left at the ghost ship they call CC/Dallas.

Certainly! There's Vicky Voicetrack, and her buddies Petey Prerecord, Harwell Harddrive and Augie Audiovault. They'll all soon have the longevity record at CC, and one of them will likely get Employee of the Year. Suppose they don't know Jack? Suppose they hang out with Perfect Paul at the NOAA Weatheradio headquarters?

It's sad to watch radio turn into any other corporate entity where employees are just numbers on a spreadsheet instead of human beings.

Perfect Paul sucks. Ever hear him naming counties listed for some of the weather alerts? Sometimes he announces them so damn fast you can barely understand him. Sounds something like "The storm will be near Tarrantat3:15AMDentonat3:20AMDallasat3:25AM" etc. ??? That robot's speed needs to be a little slower. :(

Just like voice-tracking, imperfect paul is a far cry from the quality of the voices it replaced. One thing about it all the beancounters love though and thats cheap, cheap, cheap.

He was the Lee harvey for the format. They shot him after the
thing tanked. Wasn't his fault - He should have stayed at
The Edge. if you take on more with CC and it fails your now
a target. This format was a road apple from the start. They
didn't have the balls to quit playing classic rock and should
have done The Ranch for even KGSR. With KPLX ignoring
Texas Music, they should look at playing nothing but it.

What about KTYS? They just added some Texas Music. Artist like: Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Stoney LaRue, Charlie Robison, Deryl Dodd, Brian Burns, Bleu Edmondson, & Billy Joe Shaver.

Louis Sutton,John, Anthony, and Jim all in the engineering dept., Liz in production, Lou at the EDGE, Bobby & Larry in promotions, Laticia, Beckie Raye and Julie in continuity/traffic, Bo Jim & Randy on KZPS, Billy the Kid on KHKS and Kelly at the front desk. I might have left somebody out, but these are all great people to work with. And the engineers were always Johnny on the spot to fix equipment or trouble shoot any problems I had in production. All these guys are cream of the crop in my book.

The Texas artists I had in mind for KTYS were England Dan and John Ford Coley, Michael Murphey, Sly Stone, Point Blank, Christopher Cross, Buddy Holly, Don Henley, Johnny Nash, BW Stevenson, Joe Tex, Boz Scaggs, Steve Miller and Seals and Crofts. But no, Twister's on their 58th Last Desperate Attempt to keep life support plugged in over there. At least Memories pulled high 2's...a vast improvement over 0.8. Even a jockless True Oldies format could outdo a 0.8.

Brian Burns from KRLD? Teresa's husband?

Larry left about a month ago. But he IS one of the good guys. It's a shame that everyone from John Hogan on down the line was wanting to take credit for the "groundbreaking new format" that was Lone Star. Now Duane is the scapegoat because he held out on adding the tired classic rock crap as long as he could. Get ready fro Boston, Doobie Brothers, Heart, Kansas, and other fun and exciting bands every hour now.
