"Dubba-yew"

Many years ago I was party to the purchase of an exquisite jingle package for (then) WXTR which was styled "The Wonderful World of Music".

The instrumentals (there were many) were lush and lovely.

Unfortunately the vocals were recorded at Union Tonen Studio in Munich.

Munich, Germany.

The voices were incredibly good but "Vonderful Vorld of Music" somehow seemed out of place.

When I was last there visiting, about 1985, the 15" original reels of the jingle package was still in a metal cabinet in the lower level production room. Since then that part of the building (according to photos posted online) has been torn down but, who knows, those old tapes may still be somewhere in the building!

Treasure hunt, anyone?

We were taught in my Communications class how to properly pronounce W. So I know where Holland is coming from on this one. The subject was important enough for my teacher to make it a point of discussion. You don't want to get on the air and sound like some redneck. I would imagine this is much more of a problem down South.
 
And here I thought that the gal up the road was enunciating improperly because she had a mouthful after finishing school.
