hi...planning a trip to dublin in the near future...what is the FM and AM dial like in term of what to pick up? Will a DAB radio from the UK work in Ireland?
Dublin has a busy FM band, but AM has been almost entirely phased out, although you'll still get long distance signals at night from the UK or other parts of Europe.
Public radio comes from the largely government-funded RTE, while there are a wide variety of commercial stations (national and local) and a number of lower powered community stations, some citywide and some targeting just part of the city. There's normally at least one station on a temporary licence at any one time, as well. There are a few pirates about, although far fewer than there were in the 1990s when legal commercial radio was heavily restricted and they dominated the FM band.
The licencing system has historically been very similar to the UK, but recently has gone its own way. There are much stronger ownership and format restrictions in Ireland, but considerably more commercial licences available - Dublin has more licenced FM services than London despite its much smaller size.
DAB is not yet in service in Ireland, although they have run some test transmissions in Dublin in the past. Not sure if it's on air at the moment.

Are there any websites that contains a list of Dublin license radio stations not pirate? I know Dublin has a lot of pirate radio stations like London, but where can I find a list of legal stations. I.E. 2FM, Dublin 98, FM 104.4, SPIN 103.8, News/talk 106......etc.
