Duel of the Summer Blast Offs

Scott's playing hardball now. Same day and time as Todd's. I was afraid of that ;o).

it'll be interesting to see which one has the bigger crowd.

As my Dad use to say, "don't get mad, get even." Good for you Scott! Show those Cumulus jack asses how it's done! And Todd, keep your resume current!

I imagine that Scott would have the numbers. After his (Scott) departure from PLJ, Todd appeared to me going backward.

especially if you believe the ratings. Didn't they drop from #14 down to #17? I think that's where they where a few months ago.

Still like the show though, I admit, I don't listen as often as I would like. I just find it impossible to keep up with two shows, and since scott's show is basically the same show I grew up loving, his gets priority.

We'll be heading out to Asbury this year. Although they'd get firmer commitment from me if they could move it next year somewhere in between my section of rt 35. Asbury is a tad far out of the way ;o).

While WPLJ has been doing this for 17 years, the New Jersey Shore Memorial Day Weekend Beach Party tradition actually started with WNEW-FM in 1976.

there's gotta be a place in between asbury and seaside that CBS can have theirs next year. Asbury is way too far out to make it annual trip.
If it doesn't move closer, looks like PLJ's next year.

but it's interesting to see there's more than two, and that it's not the original.

The Dickey's and WPLJ screwed Scott and get has recreated the Big Show at CBS-FM...more power to him!!

Let me just say this....
I attended Team Scott's. PERFECT Blast Off. Lots of talk. nice mix of music. nice mix of finding out what the DJs where doing, and unlike the other place, you could actually HEAR it...

I'm listening to a little of Todd's, and I find myself fast forwarding through it. I've NEVER been a concert person. I'm finding Todd's show terribly boring. He barley talks for more than 30 seconds in the first 2 hours or so every break. It's just band, after band of dull sounding 00's music that is terribly prevalent on PLJ in the last decade. Even if Todd's show does last past the first year considering 20 is their number now, I have a feeling I won't be attending any more PLJ blast off's.

I was ALWAYS more interested in the DJ's and their adventures than the music, and scott understands that.

Especially if their Blast Off Crowd truly got cut in half just like their ratings. they always boasted 10,000 before...on air they mentioned 5,000 and folks are saying not even that. Even sadder, I saw in their official video, is that it looked like they corralled everyone under 25 into the mosh pit. I didn't see a single person who looked over 30.

Maybe someone should tell them that kids these days latch onto things for about a year and then move on to the' next hot thing'. having old folks around shows a bit of staying power ;o).

http://rbr.com/wpljs-summer-kick-off-2014/

just had to post this. I was wondering where all the 30 and older people where, because in the video, all the people under 25 where in the mosh pit. Well, here they are, and they don't look too happy being stuck in the back! LOL.. In past years, it's ALWAYS been a mix of old and young in the mosh pit. this was the first year I noticed that it was all younger people. right where the camera's are, coincidentally ;o).

Also I heard Scott's blastoff review. The fact that the Dickeys (the guys responsible for loosing scott) sent him a photo of the 'huge' crowd at PLJ?
That's the most dickish move ever. Took off all PLJ feeds on my FB and Twitter after hearing that.

And I wouldn't gloat, either.. their crowd didn't sound too enthusiastic compared to past years ;o).
