Dueling Commercials?

I don't think in my many years of TV watching I have ever seen this:

I'm watching a movie on ThisTV today and a commercial comes on for a frying pan with some sort of new non-stick surface. It is bright green and sells for (drum roll please) $19.95 although it has sold for as much as (claimed) $100!

An hour later I switched over to RTV and there is another frying pan with a new (diamond covered) non-stick surface but this time it is bright blue. It also sells for $19.95...but WAIT! There are several accessories that come with this one but it only sold for as much as (claimed) $65 before!

The shysters seem to be stepping all over themselves but if it is really that easy to sell this junk OTA I have a couple dozen Teflon-coated tent stakes I'll advertise. ;D

I'm most familiar with those TV offers that follow the "But, wait.." entreaty..which means you can order a second version of the item for "free" as long as you pay separate "shipping and handling" which costs about $10 or more. This is an obvious sign to me that the product (whatever it is) can be manufactured for much less than the S&H - probably for a few cents...it's usually made out of plastic, whatever it is.

Over all the years since Ron Popeil first appeared on the air hawking this crap, I've only fallen for this once or twice.

The lesson I've taught my kids was not to buy anything:

1) Priced at $19.95
2) Advertised with a blue background

;D

I just wait for the products to show up in the "As seen on TV" store.
No shipping or handling fee...and it's still the same price.
Better yet, I can use the cash in my wallet to pay for it!

Or GREEN ic!
Trying to pass off as Organic, but its just a green colored pan. These items seem to come in groups and are gone in about 6 to 7 months. Remember all those different sets of knives being sold? Then they went away for awhile.

I never buy anything from TV commercials from companies like Telebrands. They are all made in China crap anyway...

Kinda like when Duracell first came out with the "on-battery tester". Before you know it, Energizer whipped up their own version. Competition - it's crazy...

$19.95 plus shipping and handling.

That's where they get ya, handling. Total charge will be at lest 34 bucks after that.

Sort of lends a whole new meaning to "panhandling". ;D
