Duking it Out (Pun Intended)

Not have scanned the dial downtown, there were two stations on 102.1 duking it out North to South. Now I see in the FCC data base there is construction permit out for 99.9 over on the west side. That means duking it out East to West with KMGG-LP

Well the expiration date on the CP for the proposed westside station is January 3rd so they have just over a month left! But it is likely it won't be built if they have not got it up by now. However looking at the map for this station there is clearly overlap with KMGG in the north valley and downtown areas, so I wonder what blockhead at the FCC granted this permit. KMGG actually has a pretty good signal on the westside.

And speaking of 102.1, the translator for KEMR AM 1080 (K252FS) has applied to move to Moriarty at 102.1 at 250 watts pointing west but I can't find any map that will show where it be located. It might be put on the KEMR antenna which is east of Moriarty.

FM Query has the translator at the site of AM transmitter, some 10 miles east of Moriarty. The 60 dbu plot has the signal barely reaching Lisa's Truck Stop. Going to be covering the cactus. Not sure what gives, but the Revised AM application and the applied for translator cover near zero population.

Well just one day before the permit expired they filed for a license to cover as KAQR-LP although right now only KMGG is picked up on 99.9. They did file another application but it is just to use a different antenna than stated on the last application. The channel study only mentions that it would not interfere with KMGA and KPEK but no mention of KMGG-LP so it may up to them to file some kind of objection since it would likely cause a lot of interference. More reception problems for yet another church station, just what we need!
