Forgive me for being so ignorant of the corporatization of so-called local. I have a few dumb questions for those in the business.

I understand that with modern technology I could be listening to a local radio station and the voice that I hear is actually coming from across the country. Rod Ryan does this on 104.1 and makes it seem like it's a "local" morning show. I know Big D and Bubba aren't sitting in the booth in New Orleans. My question is this. Is there anyone actually in the Clear Channel building in New Olreans that talks into a microphone? I have been playing around on the iheartradio.com site and notice that there are several personalities that have a show here in NOLA and two or three other cities. Does CC do this all across the nation? I know it was a while back that CC cleaned house of some of it's on air staff. Did this leave a dozen or so voices for the whole CC family of stations? It also seems that Lauren from 104.1 is also the voice named "Aly" on the Rock Nation stream from iheartradio. Has the whole world gon to a voicetrack? I got rid of XM just after the merger because of the rate increase. Should I go back to satellite or just bury my head in my iPod?

Siriusly, they voicetrack on Satellite too, so there is no escape.....
 
Basically all of the jocks on there are Vted on 104.1 . Not sure now, but when it first started most were from Florida except Rod who does mornings in Houston.

101.1 is all VTed if I remember correctly also with Austin James being a weird VT in that it's only being wired in from Baton Rouge (WYNK)

Not sure on the Q and YLD, But Caster and Carty on WRNO are very alive and local as well as who could forget the V man and John Osterland
 
Speaking of "local". The whole live and local thing with WWL irritates me. You have Bobby Hebert form Georgia and Bob DelGiorno from Mississippi. At least Bobby was born in state though.
 
kd5pck2 is absolutely right. The DelGiorno thing irritates me too. Just another outsider that leaves work and leaves not just the City but the entire Metro. We're good enough for him when it's Sportsmen Show time but not good enough on a normal day. I guess a Sportsmen Show in Gulfport wouldn't make him as much money.

DelGiorno is a joke and a hypocrite. How can you talk about the problems here with a straight face when you drive an hour away everyday? Give us the local news from Picayune and Poplarville Bob. Don't tell me you know what we're going through. Do they have murders every other day in Poplarville? Did you eat a great meal last night in the Quarter? Did you even eat lunch in the City one day in the past month?

If people would wise up, there would be no WWL. Garland can't come up with a real opinion. I don't care what Spud's opinion is or Tommy Tucker's, Bob Mitchell's or Todd's. The whole thing is a sham. It's too bad 99.5 is as bad as it is and can't get it together.

I bleed on the radio...I give my heart and soul to the listener ( engage BS meter here).....I 've lived in New orleans for 7 years now. I am one of you. O stole a local babe from you. My God !.....I entertain ! I inform ! I debate ! I piss people off...i male em smile......they send me gifts and cards and pictures of their families......

I'm ruined ! You hurt me....( tossed myself on the floor...very emotional now)......I'll never be able to perform again !!.....( insert picture of me running naked in the french quarter screaming !!)

Don't be offended, Gerry. Consider the source. You'd be surprised if you knew who nolaradiobuff really is, but then you'd understand his/her posts. I was amazed three people on my Facebook page knew right away who he/she is.

Bob - I've never said anything bad about Gerry V. I love the V-Man. He's the best thing on WRNO and 106.7.

Now...about my secret identity...why would anyone, especially you, care?
 
Just to set the record straight Bobby is from Cut Off now living on the North Shore. He was in Georgia when he was playing for the Dirty Birds.

As for the V-Man; He has a big set of Nads. He came from somewhere in the north east ans emersed him in our culture and heritage to do what he enjoys. So (at the risk of sounding like Ned/Kenny) don't dis the man. He will drive all the way down to Houma to do a show for H-TV. That shows to me that he is just like us down to earth.

Gerry I think for one of those hugs, unfortuneately you'll have to do one of two things.. Go to Philly and get one or you could always go to the quarter and find one of those burly guys dressed in a dress and makeup wanting to console you on the Hornets :p LOL
