Dunlop Verified: WDBD to become FOX, WUFX goes MNTV

According to Mike Dunlop, GM of the thrio WDBD, WUFX and WXMS... he verified that WDBD will be FOX 40 again with D-41 becoming FOX-HD and possible call change, WUFX will be temporarily WB until September when MY NETWORK kicks off and WXMS will remain Independent. The Rundown...

WDBD moves WB to 35 and becomes FOX 40/FOX HD 41
WUFX takes on WB until September then becomes MNTV (MY NETWORK TV)
WRBJ takes on WB/UPN merger CW.
WXMS remains IND

Finally, FOX 40 returns

Cool! But if the move does happen in May, it doesn't make sense to move Fox and WB since the WB will be going away a few months later. A post in one of the previous threads said that Mike Dunlop was considering changing WDBD's call. In this case, I'd simply switch the WUFX calls to 40 and WDBD to 35 or another set of calls to match with My Network.<P ID="signature">______________

I suppose he wants FOX 40 back ASAP, mainly for NASCAR and NFL preseason. FOX only has NASCAR for the first half of the season, then it goes to TNT. The Saints games will probably have the best ratings in years with a new coach, new QB, and all the Katrina transplants in MS.

Since I had time to think about that, it does seem to make since. I had, too, thought about that NFL scenario too, which we'll probably start seeing commercials for in the late part of the summer. It would be confusing for WDBD to be a WB affiliate and advertising NFL On Fox packages.

The big question now is how will 35 be rebranded as the temporary home for the WB. I wouldn't call it WB35 since the WB itself will be gone in mere months.<P ID="signature">______________

Well its about time. Dumping Fox from 40 was the single most stupid thing ever done in the history of Television in Jackson. I was unable to watch the Super bowl (as did lots of people) and had to listen to it on the radio that year because they didn't carry Fox on the basic dish service. Then of course Fox added NASCAR and American Idol with its 35 million viewers a week. What did WDBD have? Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Gilmore Girls. Big whoop. They should have put Fox back on 40 whenever 35 came on the air. You can't get 35 on rabbit ears unless you live near Vicksburg. It would be nice if WDBD would add a broadcast version of Fox news.

I can and quite well, too, though not as crystal clear as WDBD.
