Duplication of ME-TV Shows

Now that Charlies Angles and Green Acres are seen on both ME-TV WWME-CA Channel 23 and "I" WCPX-TV Channel 38, what other programs that "I" owns the rights to that Channel 23 is already airing.

Good to see Gimme A Break back again.

Sony doesn't deal with "exclusive" contracts when it comes to their classic product. They hand out licences and series DVD's like Halloween Candy......provided of course that said trick or treater has the bucks for said products.

I agree. However it would be in WWME best intrest to drop those series and get something nobody is showing. Most of what they have can be found on other stations. like I love Lucy. WTBS and others, Brady Bunch on I and others. Green acres I and others. Rosanne.. god every station. Bewitched, sanford and son jeffersons TVLAND. there is so much out there thats not being seen. I get RTN channels from equity broadcasting on my FTA satalite. They play My 3 sons, gomer pyle. etc. so those shows are available so y doesnt WWME get them in Chicago since we dont have an Affialiate for Retro Television Network.

Stop yer whining. You sound like ROSEANNE'S KIDS.

The probable answer little boy, is, its because Chicago stations (like ME) have proprietary information about demographics, how the show performs against certain other shows, if its available for SALE or for BARTER, how many runs its had in Chicago (affects the price and maybe the ratings). THATS what a Program Department does.

I can't stand Roseanne either, but they DON'T CARE if YOU or I LIKE her or not. Her big fat ass probably hits the target they are looing for.

"There is so much out there thats not being seen"- but 99% must not meet their criteria. It's a BUSINESS.

Please send them YOUR list and be done with it.

Well I agree with to an extent. Just because a station puts on rosanne doesnt make somebody watch it. If its on 70 times a day on 50 different channles it gets worn out. Im not the only one complaining. Grandpa Squirl is and i frequent sitcomes on line and EVERYONE is bitching about METV playing it and Nick at Nite playing 10 times a night. SO who is watching it? My beef is stay with the Genra if you wanna advertise classic shows well put them on. AMC for example stands for AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS. so why does it play movies from 2005? and how about BET thats Black Entertainment Television. they had Friday the 13th on the otherday.. nobody black in that movie. TVland is all classic shows? NOPE they have thier new origanal shows. MTV music television NOPE again its all reality shows. So my friend thats my point. Its not just because I dont like rosanne, its because these corporate asses dont stick to the genras they advertise. Its like going to a restaraunt that advertises STEAK!!!! and they only have hamburgers (Steak and Shake)

Still, you and I don't know what they really own and how they own it. Maybe those shows that "don't fit" come as a bonus when they buy something else.

Maybe those shows attract an audience that is the same demographic as they are seeking.

Research and past performance are documented on all of these shows.

The genre (correctly spelled) of the show may not be an issue when you are buying a large package of stuff and get some "freebies." Also, maybe they know they would not be competitive WHATEVER they ran in that time slot so they play "some dog" there.

I would think that WWME would appeal to the urban black audience that aren't likely to have cable. That would be me since I gave up cable. That is why I was mostly concerned about Channel 38 which is also over the air. Channel 38 has the best UHF signal in Chicago for my rabbit ears. With Channel 26 and Channel 23 the next best. I live on the near northwest side of Chicago.

I can understand airing it on ME-TV if it's also on WTBS or something because not everyone gets cable, but both Channel 38 and 23 are available over the air, and Channel 38 goes a lot farther than 23. (Ok so 23 is on the sub channel of digital 26 but how many people have digital tuners yet.)

I know in Chicago that Good Times, Sanford & Son and especially The Jeffersons are delivering a great deal of the city of Chicago black audiences. That would make sense because African Americans have a lower percentage of cable.
