Was watching the noon news on television and they reported that Dwyer and Michaels were off the air at Q106, as they didn't show up for work because they refused to renew their contract. I also looked at the website for the station (kcqq.com) and they're not listed in the "On Air" section anymore. Interesting stuff.
More on the story from the Channel 8 (wqad.com) website: Radio morning team Dwyer and Michaels are leaving KCQQ-FM.
Larry Rosmilso, Vice President and General Manager of the Quad City Radio Group, which manages Q106, says Bill Dwyer and Greg Michaels are no longer are with the station. The radio group is owned by Clear Channel Broadcasting.
NewsChannel 8 has learned the DJ duo will now work for WXLP-FM (97 Rock), owned by rival Cumulus Media.
Dwyer and Michaels joined Q106 in September 1995 after leaving WXLP, then known as 97X.
Q106 aired the Bob and Tom show this morning. No word whether the nationally syndicated show will be a permanent replacement.
Reasons for the departure were not disclosed. We'll have more on this story as the details are made available.
