Dwyer & Michaels gone from Q106 in QC?

Was watching the noon news on television and they reported that Dwyer and Michaels were off the air at Q106, as they didn't show up for work because they refused to renew their contract. I also looked at the website for the station (kcqq.com) and they're not listed in the "On Air" section anymore. Interesting stuff.

More on the story from the Channel 8 (wqad.com) website: Radio morning team Dwyer and Michaels are leaving KCQQ-FM.

Larry Rosmilso, Vice President and General Manager of the Quad City Radio Group, which manages Q106, says Bill Dwyer and Greg Michaels are no longer are with the station. The radio group is owned by Clear Channel Broadcasting.

NewsChannel 8 has learned the DJ duo will now work for WXLP-FM (97 Rock), owned by rival Cumulus Media.

Dwyer and Michaels joined Q106 in September 1995 after leaving WXLP, then known as 97X.

Q106 aired the Bob and Tom show this morning. No word whether the nationally syndicated show will be a permanent replacement.

Reasons for the departure were not disclosed. We'll have more on this story as the details are made available.

I heard about Dwyer and Michaels leaving Q106.5 yesterday, but couldn't confirm it.

I heard the 97X thing today, too.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the six-month non-compete. Speculation is that Cumulus will try to buy it out.

In the big picture, it looks like Clear Channel is doing a good job of cutting expenses before the sale...

Here's my question(s):

1. If D&M are moving to 97 Rock, will the newslady join them? (What was her name?)

2. Will they replace Dave & Darren, or take up a different time?

3. The Bob & Tom Show is posted on both kuul.com and kcqq106.com--will the show air on both stations? Will 101.3 take on another nationwide show (if there is one), or will it just have some free time (in which case, the smart move would be to move everyone else from the old D&M show to KUUL)?

I'm thinking they're getting ready for a format change with one of the 2 they have Bob & Tom on now. They have Mark Manuel back on KUUL and so forth. I think one will be morphed into a top 40 station, just depends which one it is. I know 106 is on a 100,000 wat stick, but not sure about 101.3. Clear Channel must have something in mind, because it doesn't sound like they tried very hard to keep Dwyer and Michaels.
