DX alert: E-skip is BAAAAACCCCCKKKK, BETTER THAN EVER!

Today, on 95.3 FM, I picked up KYDN Monte Vista, CO with ads, one for a Co-Op store on Highway 160 (??) and an ad for National Guard mentioning Colorado.

Distance-1077 miles!

I guess it's GOOD monday today!!

Also picked up a three-way tie on 101.9, KINK with an ad for Spirit Mountain Casino. A quick ecletic music station and a country logged twice with Taylor Swift's "You Belong with Me" and Sugarland's "It Happens" with no IDs. Quick pick up, gone after about 10 seconds.

We'll keep you updated.

Just learned that the country station is KATP out of Amarillo, TX!! My first Texas logging! Heard Keith Urban's Kiss a Girl, sometimes almost a 5 on the signal strength.

Distance-1360 miles!!!!! MY FARTHEST LOGGING EVER ON FM!!!! WHOOOOO!! YES!!!!

Now heard KLDV 91.1 FM out of Morrison, CO with K-Love ID and mention of Denver.

Distance-1017 miles!

Also hearing rock music with no IDs on 102.1 FM. Faded out before the ID.

Also heard KANY on 93.7, and KATP still in on 101.9. But faded out by the time I heard KLDV. Classical music also on 91.1 FM, but faintly. We'll keep you posted.

MORE loggings

Just logged KKHI Denver, CO on 101.9 FM, with smooth jazz music at a distance of about 1020 miles.

Heard something on 105.7 but no ID.

91.1 KLDV heard again with NOAA Weather alert about severe thunderstorms.

Pretty much a mix on 95.3.

Seems like everything except for 91.1 has faded out now.

From El Dorado Hills, CA today (east of Sacramento), I actually pulled in KKBO (105.9), licensed to Flasher, ND, serving the Bismarck market. It's about 1,500 miles from here to there. I called the station, spoke to the studio, and verified it was KKBO I was hearing. They were astonished that I was listening to them over-the-air in Northern California.

I logged KATP last Tuesday here in Myrtle Beach. 1,305 miles. Glad you're finally getting some Es.

UPDATE-8:27PM

All conditions have died down now, but KINK and KXLE are still in, over either mountain skip or tropo.

Yesterday afternoon, Monday, July 13, I heard audio (using the NBFM Mode) on my handheld scanner, an Icom R2, indoors,....with an 8" whip antenna, on the channel 2 aural frequency (59.740 MHz).

I heard commercials for Canada, and the call sign CKCO. Turned the outside (3rd floor balcony VHF) antenna toward the north-east....looking THROUGH my apartment. Got intermittent video and audio for about an hour.

I called their engineering department, at their main station in Kitchener, Ontario, and confirmed it was their satellite-transmitter, a 100 KW on channel 2, at Wiarton, northwest of Toronto.
I later took a FI measurement outside, and got an uncorrected level of 30-40 uV/m on Visual, and 10 uV/m on aural.

Later, I was getting what appears to be CKCK-TV from Regina, with similar results.

I'm located in Midvale, Utah, just south of SLC. The Wiarton station was 1582 miles. The Regina station, if that's the one I saw, was 764 miles.

Hepburn showed a pretty intense tropo area around the midwest, and some smaller areas over the Great Lakes.
