DX ? for DE

Dead, you are traditionally the go to guy for strange signal questions... Walt asked me to find out what is the Spanish Language easy listening station on 530 AM... I postulated that it was Cuban, but then again, I don't really know. He said it was running the same format (Schulke) that the old WLIN in Jackson, MS ran, down to the same breaks.

Likely, it's Radio Rumbo (TICAL) in Costa Rica. I have them listed as 18 kW in my 1999 book. There is also a station in the Turks & Caicos Islands, but the format doesn't fit, really.

I can hear Rumbo here, from time to time. They're usually pretty weak, but alone since they are on 530.

'Love Costa Rica. Was there a couple of years back.

I've heard music on 530 but always assumed it was the turks station but nothing i would call easy listening... I guess if i knew spanish it would make things a bit easier.

I've have to check 530 some at night now and see what i hear

Its a Cuban. I'm currently on the gulf coast near Pensacola and heard it for about an hour last night. Several references to "Cuba" and "Habana" by female ss announcer. Tried it at 10am this morning, and there it was again....barely audible. To me, the daytime signal pretty much guarantees Cuban origin. Curious what the power might be. And you're right, it sounds like the old Schulke stuff.
