'DX freak' from Stuttgart region

Radio was a facinating medium for me since the 70s. It began at the age of 13, when I picked up old tube radios from bulky waste in the streets of my home town (with my pocket money a new Rx was just a dream ;-).
With a Telefunken 'Rhythmus (19)52' I gained my first 'overseas' experiences on shortwave. Later I managed to get hold of a 'Grundig Satellit 2000' and was completely infected by the 'DX virus' (AM, Tropical bands, SW). There is still an archive of this period with countless cassette recordings from stations in Africa, Asia, North and Latin America which are now being continuously digitized.

I still have my 'Satellit 2000' rx for everyday use, but unfortunately Dx-ing has become very difficult due to increasing sources of interference and noise in the city area. In addition, the job leaves me little opportunity to lie in wait for long-distance receptions deep in the night. For now I've decided to listen through my sound archive and I've already managed to crack some tough UNIDs after 30 years, e.g. recently 'Radio Estelar', Moyobamba / Peru, on 5767 kHz 😉
