DX opportunity?

Sorry for the short notice on this...WPTF 680 Raleigh NC will be off the air for at least a couple of hours on Wednesday morning (7/13), from 12:00 AM EDT until we get done with our measurements.

Those of you who normally hear WPTF at night might want to see what else you can hear on the channel, in our absence :)

....and I'd have to have a 670 in nearby Miami ....grrrr

Thanks for the notice. Now if WSCR would only cooperate by shutting down their IBOC.

Checked out 680 kHz in WPTF's absence (I'm in Durham, NC) and heard WCNN/Atlanta faintly in the background. 670 was mostly Cuba with WSCR/Chicago underneath, while 690 was nothing but IBOC hiss from "The Big One" 700 WLW.

Is WPTF installing a new transmitter or was this just general maintenance?

WCBM 680 in Baltimore appeared to be off the air for a short time yesterday early afternoon and I heard what appeared to be extremely weak WPTF here in northern VA along with lightning static crashes, just before the big thunderstorm moved through here.
