DX report from Destin

Picked up some strange tropo around sunrise this morning from Destin, FL. First was Gator 106.9 WGZR-Bluffton, SC. The next station I caught was WQIK 99.1 Jacksonville, FL. There were a whole lot of other unknown stations, but as usual they would fade out durring commercial breaks. I'm guessing the distances are in the 400-500 mile range.
In the past I've picked up stations from locations all around the Gulf Coast like Tampa, Corpus Christie, and Mexico but I've never picked up Atlantic coast stations here before.

I remember in both late July of 2004 and 2005 down at my Grandfather's house and my Aunt and Uncle's house out side of Corpus Christi picking up several Florida radio stations some faded over local stations in Corpus. I remember when I was DXing the TV band at my Grandfathers house he was impressed ind was asking me all of these questions about what is causing all of those new stations to him that were coming in. My parents were griping and yelling at me mainly my mother to switch the station. Here in Dallas I have picked up a few TV stations out of the Carolina's. Good catches by the way and the next few days look exciting according to the forecast.

Hello from Fort Walton Beach.
106.9 WGZR is probably the most common distant tropo catch from here going up the Atlantic coast. I hear them fairly often on tropo. also 107.5 WNKT "Cat Country" from the Charleston, SC area. WNKT is 410 miles and WGZR is 363 miles from my location.
I was unaware there were other FM DXers in this area. I just signed up to this siter this evening (2/5/07)

I've heard several DX on the FM band. Too bad the season is done.

Good tropo will return soon. Late March and into May have always been good for long distances towards Texas and south Florida. Perhaps even Mexico. April of last year I heard many Mexican FM stations and even a couple from Cuba. By the end of May sporadic E propagation will be in almost daily and you'll hear stations 1000 miles +
