DX This Morning

On my drive into work I turned on 97.5 hoping to get KLAK but was greeted with The Ticket instead...the OTHER ticket. KFNC in Houston.

Last night I was getting a country station in the high 95's that wasn't "the ranch" It was 95.7 KKAJ-FM out of Ardmore, OK. Not that impressive I think but others may disagree, since Ardmore is 100 miles out. Am I wrong in thinking that is not that impressive?

KSKY used to get over run by a station in Nashville on the same frequency.

I can usually pick up KKAJ from where I live in Valley Ranch. Especially in the mornings.

Nashville doesn't have a station on 660 since 50kw WSM 650 is there.

KKAJ is pretty easy to get on the north side of the market -- its a class C1 FM with a transmitter just to the south of Ardmore. It puts in a fairly strong signal to the Red River Counties to the north. South of FW, you are likely to pull in oldies KBGO "Big 95" Waco.

The folks that own KFWR 95.9 (LKCM Radio) bought KKAJ and have applied to downgrade it (city of license change from Ardmore to Davis OK, downgrade from a C1 to C2, transmitter moved to the northeast of Ardmore) to allow KFWR to try to improve its coverage to Fort Worth (KFWR has an application to move from 95.9C1 Mineral Wells to 95.9C0 Jacksboro). Weak KJKB 95.5 Jacksboro, also now owned by LKCM, has an application to move to suburban Wichita Falls as well to make way for KFWR's new facilities, if granted.

I find It Nuts they Didnt Just Buy 93.1 KMKT. That way they could cover Collin County

But KKAJ is a pretty easy catch. 99.9 WACO is a regular as well
92.9 KNIN is also a regular

That is the frequency I meant. Thanks for the correction.
