DX This Morning

Heavy clouds here in Dallas-Fort Worth seem to be creating good AM DX conditions.

At 9:00 AM, I’m hearing:
1690/KDMT Denver (especially odd because there’s a local on 1700)
1410/KGSO Wichita, KS
1070/KFTI Wichita, KS (HD on 1080/KRLD is off this morning.)
1090/KAAY Little Rock

Both Denver and Wichita are common catches here at night but I’ve never heard either this long after sunrise.

I'm pretty sure what you're hearing is daytime skywave. Which becomes more likely to happen as the days grow shorter and the sun angle is lower. It's more common in latitudes farther north than Dallas, and on the upper reaches of the AM dial. Also, most, if not all of these stations would probably have been operating on day power/pattern and power at 9am your time.

But any way you look at it, these are nice catches. Congratulations!

I'm in W. Washington, and I was hearing some Eastern Washington and Oregon stations a lot later in the AM than usual, also. Winter daytime DX season approacheth. :)
