DX Z953

I heard Z953 today about 3:20 on the south west side for about 4 min played a pink floyd song then a station id of Z953 when I did a google search said the station is located in Canada in this right if so wow what a catch.

I've noticed a couple of band openings on FM during the past few weeks, but nothing spectacular. Did pick up WWRM 94.9 in Tampa, FL, but other signals too fleeting to get an ID.

There have been some reports of increased sunspot activity, as we may be finally pulling out of the bottom of the current solar cycle. So keep an ear out for more FM DX.

The start of the new sunspot cylce has not been officially tagged yet...none of the current sunspots seen have shown the flipped polarity required to signal the start of the new 11 yr cycle. HOWEVER, along the Gulf, there has been plenty of ducting and some sporadic E propogation...This will lead to some band openings....though not across country as they were in years past...Tonight, I am picking up several HD TV signals out of LA......and one, KPLC's, is on 8 and battling KUHT big time.
