DXing 870 and 890 at night during a Yankees game

According to topazdesigns, WCBS turns their I-BLOCK off during Yankees games. Is anyone getting better reception of 870 and/or 890 right now as the Yankees are playing? For some reason, I can barely get WWL tonight here in Vermilion, OH.

I wonder why WCBS would switch its IBOC on an off depending on whether they're in All-News or a Yankee broadcast? They're both spoken-word programming.

That does sound unusual! My guess is that with IBOC hindering range of broadcast at night, the Yankees brass want WCBS to reach as many in the boonies as possible.

Does this occur during day games as well? I'd think not.

I think I can safely say that the brass doesn't want folk DXn 870 & 890 during Yankees games!

IBOC increases the audio delay. Turning it off gives WCBS the ability to broadcast in real time.

Yup, that too.

I suspect the Yankee organization has a big part to do with making sure it is turned off during games. They want the fans listening in the park to hear the game in real time.
