DXing HD Radio on AM

Has anybody tried this?

In the past few nights I've logged the following stations with my XDR-F1HD and the included loop antenna. I count a station if I get at least a blip of decoded digital audio from them:

1. 670 WSCR-HD 11/28/08 393 mi
2. 850 KOA-HD 11/28/08 802 mi
3. 1130 KFAN-HD 11/29/08 156 mi
4. 1040 WHO-HD 11/30/08 357 mi
5. 1110 KFAB-HD 11/30/08 431 mi
6. 840 WHAS-HD 11/30/08 683 mi
7. 1070 WTSO-HD 11/30/08 299 mi (5 kW!)

(11/30/08 may have been early morning 12/1 ... and the above aren't necessarily in sequential order)

I first received KOA-HD a few nights ago, but just with a second or two of audio. Last night...I had about 15 seconds! I've also had consistent decodes from WTSO and KFAN. In addition to the ones above, I've seen HD text on KMOX, WBBM, and WLS (late afternoon), but never decoded anything.

I have the same radio. It has excellent sensitivity but not enough to fire up HD. The light flashes like crazy and the signal is full strength but all I receive is adjacent channel noise. WBBM did activate the display one night but that was it. I've even placed a select-a-tenna next to the loop to no avail. WTAM, WHO, and all of the Chicago AM's blast into my location.

I actually did tried AM HD DX recently, getting the following stations that displayed the call letters at night at my home in VA:

810 WGY Albany, Ny
880 WCBS NY
1000 WMVP Chicago
780 WBBM Chicago
700 WLW Cincinnati
1030 WBZ Boston

Each time I picked up the HD signal, it stays on only for a few seconds but the call letters remain. The antennas I used are the supplied loop antenna placed inside the Terk AM Advantage loop and a homemade 5 foot loop with 4 turns of wire and no variable capacitor. The radios I used the Sony XDR-S3HD table radio and the XDR-F1HD tuner. The big loop seemed to work pretty well.
