Dxing in Maine

Have you ever dxed in Maine? I'm talking anything AM,FM,Shortwave Dtv, weather band etc
? I've dxed in Freeport and didn't do too bad. I've always wanted to try Moosehead Lake for dxing.

I attempted some DXing once at the Portland Marriott. Hardly an ideal spot, but I do seem to remember that some of the Boston AM stations apparently were doing well via saltwater path..

Yeah, that's pretty much what I got in Freeport. I got a couple Boston FM stations coming in, think it was 93.7 and another station and a lot of strong Boston signals especially WMEX and WBZ.

I did a little brief DXing when we visited Maine the summer of 1978 when were staying in a cabin near Bar Harbor.

I was mostly interested in hearing WABC which came in quite strong as well as WNBC and WCBS.

Down here in Florida a few years back, I once heard 99.1 WLKE FM from Bar Harbor during E Skip mixing with WPLM Plymouth, Massachusetts

We were at Acadia National Park a couple of summers ago. WCBS and WFAN were listenable during the middle of the day. No trace of WABC and WOR.

I forgot to say that I was listening at night when I heard those NYC stations.

We also went to Acadia National Park but back then, I didn't know that saltwater path signals could be as good I've realized now from living in Florida.

Had I known then, I would have tried to see what I could get there in the day. Those are good daytime catches, benale.

Makes sense that you couldn't get WABC and WOR because unlike the other two, their transmitters are much more inland in New Jersey.
