Dxing

DX score

Does anyone do any Dxing in this area ? Just wondering !

I scored a big one a year or so ago here in south central PA.----I caught KOA in Denver Co. one winter evening around 7:00 pm. I was using a Kenwood R-600 receiver with a 50' long wire antenna. I dropped them a note and actually got a QSL and a nice little note back. Maybe that made the engineer's day and it sure did mine.

Interesting time of the day is near sunset when Stations are doing a power change or directional antenna switch.I was able to pick up WAPE,690khz,in Jacksonville, Florida in my car radio in York. Also received a QSL from the chief Engineer. At home I generally use my old GE super radio which has an analog tuner.I will also combine this with a Grundig portable which has a digital readout >Makes it easier to know precisely what frequency I have.
