hi....i have a subcription to dxtuners.com....i noticed that some of the people who run the tuners are blocking out certain FM frequencies...for example

105.9 from orlando which can be found on the Florida tuner is being blocked and a couple of stations on the Las Vegas tuner are being blocked too.

Does anyone know why this would happen? If you are paying to have this service, shouldn't you be allowed to tune in the stations?
 
Possibly some issue with the stations complaining about their signal being streamed without their permission? I can see the RIAA police shutting the whole operation down over music copyrights.<P ID="signature">______________

The tuners are meant mainly for hams, shortwave hobbyists, and people who like to monitor emergency services, air traffic and such, but because most of the radios are general coverage, they are capable of getting AM&FM, and there are many out there who like to try DX these bands as well. For the most part the issue was with groups of people who found out about all this and subscribed and listened only to Howard Stern, and they usually tuned in for the whole show, basically taking up a tuner for hours that someone else might have wanted to tune in the BBC or NOAA weather radio or listen to some hams yaking it up on 80 meters. It was at this point that frequency blocking started, you'll notice that the frequency blocked is usually the one formerly occupied by Stern. The radios are fully capable of blocking the entire AM & FM bands. As far as the whole operation being shut down, it's not some pirate organization, it's a service for Hams by Hams and it's run basically out of Sweden, and if the request is made to shut out certain frequencies in certain areas, I'm certain they will comply, especially seeing as there's only about 12 US radios out of a good 60+ that would be affected.
